Several years ago we were going on an Alaska cruise. We live about an hour from the airport and had a flight that was leaving around 6am. We live in Ohio and had a connecting flight in Minneapolis then on to Vancouver. I had told dh that he needed to have his stuff packed early because I wanted to get to sleep early because I would be waking around 3am. Of course he waited until 10pm to begin packing, I had been packing dd and my suitcases for days. Finally get to sleep when our electricity goes out around midnight. My dd sleeps with a sound machine and woke up when it went off. I had packed the one that ran on batteries. I couldn't remember which suitcase it was in and basically had to go through 4 before I finally found it. Try to get back to sleep, but at this point the house is getting too hot to be able to sleep and my alarm was going off in 2 hours, so I get up. Finally time to leave, as we drive down our street dh realizes he left the bag with passports in the house. Goes back to get it. He leaves the door from the house to the garage open and I see what I think is a bird fly into the house. Dh gets back in car and I tell him about the bird. He says there's no bird, I insist that there was so he turns car around and goes back into house, looks around and says there was no bird. Off to the airport, I just know we are going to return to a house covered in bird poo. 10 mins before boarding our flight is cancelled making us miss our connecting flight. We end up getting to Vancouver after midnight, we were suppose to get there at 11am, Vancouver time. Finally get to hotel, dd (just turned 6 yrs old) has a melt down and wants to go home. Realize I forgot to put the battery operated sound machine back into suitcase. DD finally got to sleep thanks to a phone app we found. Cruise thankfully turned out great and when we got home there was no bird in the house.
