Hi everyone. My 21 year old daughter and I will be spending our first christmas season @ WDW. We will be there over Thanksgiving and would really like to experience Thanksgiving to the max. (We are from the UK) Can anyone suggest somewhere to have a traditionalThanksgiving meal? and anything else that will help us experience the meaning of Thanksgiving. Many Thanks x

I have been there the evening of Thanksgiving AFTER lunch with family :) but since I am not a big fan of turkey etc I try to avoid that at the parks but to my understanding Liberty Tree Tavern does a great T'Day....

You will be bombarded with answers shortly :)

Well, if I lived closer to "The Mouse" I would. Thanksgiving is my holiday to shine in the kitchen :) and that is what Thanksgiving is all about, and sharing your blessings with others. There have been many a Thanksgiving Day when I have had "strangers" at my table.
:goodvibes

Hmmmm, I can't promise anything cause I am not sure what I will be doing on Thanksgiving. . .but give me a couple weeks to unravel my life and MAYBE I will be cooking Thanksgiving Dinner for all my friends hanging out in the Orlando area who have no family close by to eat with. It really depends on what my November schedule will be like. If I am on call, it might put a damper on things unless I have someone else to "help" out.

We are doing the Hoop-de-Doo revue Thanksgiving night, figuring the would be the most "american" meal, I though I remembered from last time years ago that we had a hard time finding a traditional turkey meal

Oddly, Orlando is one of the few cities in the US where it's as easy to find mushy peas, Yorkshire pudding and spotted dick as a turkey dinner.

Thanksgiving is such a lovely tradition, It should be world wide.
Or at least everywhere that Colonial powers survived with help from the indigenous people and later took their land.
Kidding, kidding!, as a history student, I can assure you that there's plenty of atrocity to go around in most cultures, and that the vast majority of us come from folks who were enslaved or displaced at some point. As a descendant of Picts, I'm still pissed at those Vikings.

Besides, Martha Stewart took it apart, disinfected it, made improvements and reassembled the parts, so it's a good thing! I love me some turkey and dressing.

Since I'm almost always attending the parks solo, for many years my tradition was to visit Epcot early, then have Thanksgiving lunch at the Garden Grille. They serve family style, and while the menu would vary from year to year, they would usually put a holiday spin on this meal. They grow the veggies right there on property, and you can taste the freshness, it's so fabulous. It was a character meal, so there was always some interesting interaction with servers and characters, plus it's always a delight to watch families with children getting to meet with all the characters. I was always treated well there.

It's been my understanding the last few years that the lunch is no longer available at Garden Grille, so unless something has changed, that is probably no longer an option. However, another poster mentioned Liberty Tree Tavern in MK, another family style dining option. I've eaten there at non-holiday timess, and I'd imagine they would do a terrific job of presenting a traditional Thanksgiving experience.

I've always enjoyed Thanksgiving at the parks. Even solo, the atmosphere there is warm and inviting, and even if alone, you're not really alone there. Being grateful to be there helps me to remember everything else I'm thankful for. And there sure are lots of hugs to be had at Disney!

p.s. to OP. I've been blessed to meet a great many visitors from the UK over my years at the parks, and it's always been a delightful experience. Welcome, and have a wonderful holiday here!

Thank you, that is just so sweet ! I really appreciate your kind words..... looking forward to November sooooooooooo much

WCC at WL maybe be serving a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I know they serve a trad, xmas dinner on xmas day. The have a quiet area to eat in if you prefer. I heard Rose & Crown servers a trad. English dinner on xmas day.

We have been to Liberty Tree Tavern at MK and it is the closest to a Thanksgiving dinner that we have found.

I go the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I have to say my favorite "leftover" T-giving meal was at the Buffeteria in the Dolphin.

It was "spot on."

We (16 people including kids) have been going to Captains Grille at the Yacht Club Hotel for a couple of years now. They serve a traditional New England Thanksgiving buffet which is fantastic, even if we are from New Jersey! :) They have all the traditional Thanksgiving fare along with some great New England soups and sides. They start serving at 4:30pm

After dinner some of us head over to the ESPN Club on the Boardwalk for that other Thanksgiving tradition.......Football!

Can honestly say that Thanksgiving at WDW is perfect. The weather is just right, again think New Jersey that time a year, the crowds are not that bad, the parks are decorated for Christmas and there is no cooking or cleaning up for Thanksgiving dinner!!! :)

Oh and there is something to be said to be able to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving parade from New York while sitting at the pool in Disney!! :)

Any other questions I would be more then happy to help, just ask and enjoy your stay!

We ate at Boatwright's in the Port Orleans Riverside resort. It was your traditional Thanksgiving meal: turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, cornbread, etc. It was delicious. They piled the plate high. I'm telling you, our food was stacked about 5 inches high. We hardly ate half. It was so good though!!!! I don't think a lot of people know about the place so you might have some luck getting a reservation there too. ;)
