DD & I are seriously considering going back the week of Thanksgiving!! I LOVE seeing Disney decorated for Christmas and we usually go the week AFTER Thanksgiving, but now that DD is in high school, I don't want her to miss school. We went in November two years ago, but left the day before Thanksgiving.

We will probably be buying annual passes when we go next week, so have there been any AP discounts the week of Thanksgiving in past years?

If you've been before for Thanksgiving, what did you do for Turkey Day? We are thinking about massages at the Grand Floridian, and then a nice, early dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse!!!!

When we went over Thanksgiving in '07 we got an AP discount at CSR for the Tuesday and Wednesday night before Thanksgiving and the Sunday Monday and Tuesday night after. We paid about $145/night for the Thanksgiving weekend. The AP was also handy because we got a discount for MVMCP and we purchased the "Tables in Wonderland/DDE" card saving 20% on our meals. We are a large family of 9 so the card paid for itself after the first day.

This year we are going again. So far I have a free dining package for the first 5 days at POFQ then a pin code for the last three days. This may change as new deals come out. I'm holding off on getting the AP for now.

For both trips we had to make two different reservations to get the best prices. Same resort, just different res numbers.

For Thanksgiving we go to Disney studios in the morning and have either an early dinner or a late dinner. In '07 we ate at Cape May Cafe - delicious. Your plan sounds like a relaxing Thanksgiving day - I like it ! Make your Turkey day reservation as early as possible!

We are planning on Thanksgiving week also. DD's 40th b'day is Thanksgiving Day!! We just got back (May 8 thru 16 at POP). We upgraded to AP then, had planned to go back 1st week of Sept with the free dining but we are going to cancel that and concentrate on Thanksgiving. Would love to get a code or something for free dining during that time, lol.

We are hoping to go to Disney this week only in 2010. I am dying to go around the holidays but didnt want to get into the crazy crowds right near Xmas.

I have been trying to research how we get on either some kind of bounceback deal in that timeframe or obtain some kind of code. I would actually just prefer the free dining bounceback if we could get it as that seems to work well for our party of five.

The news hasnt been too promising from what I have been hearing.

I would even be willing to stay a weekend with my husband this year just to lock in a rate for next year.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

We are going Thanksgiving week this year but don't have any discounts yet. I thought that week was blocked out of the free dining dates... we're arriving Nov. 21- 27

If you have gone during that week of Thanksgiving, can you give an idea on crowd levels? I am looking at the week just before Thanksgiving, the week of Thanksgiving, and the following week. Thanks so much!

We were there Thanksgiving week this past year. Crowd levels grew as the week went on. While it was crowded all week, it wasn't as bad as Easter until Wednesday. Then it got really crowded. Thanksgiving Day at MK was unbearable and we left by 10:30am and had a lovely day at the resort. We went to EPCOT in the evening and it was crowded but manageable. Friday after was a madhouse! I have heard that the week before was pleasant. I wish we could go then but with the kids in middle and high school we just can't. I don't know about the crowds the week after. If you are flexible I would avoid Thanksgiving week.

The week after Thanksgiving has very low crowds. Thanksgiving weekend is pretty crowded, but there are extended hours.

That when I am looking to go the week after Thanksgiving. This way its not so close to the holidays that I will go nuts, but still be able to see and enjoy the holiday atmosphere and decorations.

I just was hoping to figure this out this year so next year we would be all set. I really would like to get a pin code or something that would get us the free dining for that time period.

I guess I will have to keep my eyes open to see if there is a bounce back offer this year that would then get us into the loop for next year.

I went in March and my husband and I are going in Sept so I am not sure I can convince him to do another long weekend in Nov if it became available, but I would be willing to try if need be lol

We will see.
