Hey guys

We're looking at doing a 6 night, 7 day stay at WDW for Thanksgiving week. The question is should we arrive the weekend before or should we arrive Monday and leave the weekend after? That will be either the 18th thru 24th (arrive Sat, leave Fri) or 20-26th (arrive Mon, leave Sun). Is one weekend better than the other? My guess is that the weekend after (25th and 26th) will be less crowded, but I thought I'd check with the experts here.

Thanks!

In our experience, the weekend before Thanksgiving is less crowded than the weekend after. Here, school is on break from Thanksgiving through the following Monday, and a lot of people take advantage of that time off so their children either miss 1-2 days of school or no school at all by taking a short trip. You'll begin to see the Thanksgiving crowd die down early in the following week.

Yeah, I would do the weekend after for sure! There is usually a short lull in crowds in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. & The days you arrive and leave would work better for avoiding crowds.

Sat to fri unless the difference in rooms and flights make the larger thanksgiving weekend crowds worth arriving sunday or monday.

Its going to be crowded the whole week but noticeably more thanksgiving weekend.

I'd check flight prices when making the decision. The Sunday before and after Thanksgiving can be pricey.

Thanks for replies guys. We're in Atlanta and will be driving, so flights aren't an issue. We usually drive down the night before our arrive date, which allows for a full park day on arrival. It works pretty well.

I would go the week before Thanksgiving. We have been several times during that week and crowds are less before. Crowds steadily grow the closer it gets to Thanksgiving.

I would go week after Thanksgiving to make sure you catch decorations that are still going up Thanksgiving week.

Pick the 18th to the 24th. Starting Wednesday it will be crowded, Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be very crowded. Good luck with a discount.

Week before isn't an option, unfortunately. Taking the kids out of school is frowned upon pretty heavy here.

I believe we'll go 18th thru 24th. The majority opinion seems to be the weekend before is less crowded than weekend after.

Must be nice to have your kids off for a week from school. My son is off Nov. 23rd and his return date is Nov. 27th. Last year two of his teachers gave tests on Nov. 22nd:(

Have a great trip!

We went the Friday-Tuesday after Thanksgiving in 2015, and the crowds weren't bad at all. We rarely waited more than ten minutes for a ride.
