We'll be offsite at The Ginn Reunion Resort on Thanksgiving Day. We won't have a car. The buffet they offer at Ginn is $60/per person!! We are a family of four and I'd like to somehow get a Thanksgiving dinner delivered to the resort. Anyone have any ideas? I'd like to have something pre-prepared that we can reheat in the oven or microwave.

How about one of the grocery delivery services? Maybe they offer something like this :confused3

Yikes! $60 person!

If you can arrange for a taxi or shuttle, it might be worth it to go to a local Publix grocery store. Their delis make great holiday meals that you can pre-order. You can get ham or turkey, all the trimmings and dessert ready to re-heat. I seem to recall in past years they advertised a whole family meal for @ $40.

Perhaps you can call your resort and see where the closest Publix is. If it's just a few miles away (and Publix's seem to be everywhere!) it may be worth the cab fare to order a dinner and pick it up on Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

I did some checking for you. The nearest Publix to Ginn Reunion Resort is 5.3 miles away at 8301 Champions Gate Boulevard in Champions Gate Village. It's south of your resort. You can order things onine (no Thanksgving stuff there yet) and just pick it up. You obviously would need a taxi or a shuttle but the distance for a round trip would be less than 15 miles. There's another Publix north at 14928 East Orange Lake Road in Kissimmee. That's six miles from your resort.

Another idea is to check out the Honey Baked Ham Company at honeybaked.com. They have a full turkey dinner for about $70 that can be delivered wherever you want. You can order it online for shipping. They of course, have ham and other meats and side dishes. The turkey dinner combo meal comes with a roasted turkey, sweet potato souffle, cornbread dressing, turkey gravy, and pecan pie. There are other combinations on there as well.

Hope that helps a bit. It's not like Mom used to make but it's turkey and it'll be Thanksgiving.

I have a similar suggestion. I reinjured my back last year @ Thanksgiving, so cooking was out of the question. We wanted a meal as close to what I would have made as possible. We ordered some from Honey Baked Ham, Boston Market, & Publix. Obviously, this wouldn't be practical for you, but I wouldn't hesitate to order from any of them again. The turkey breast at HBH is great, btw. I agree with those who suggested getting a cab to take you to the closest of these three, & get your meal from there.

I agree that the Publix deli makes a great Thanksgiving dinner, just pick up and reheat.

All Publix are closed on Thanksgiving day though so you would have to p/u the day before. Call early, last year my Publix stopped taking orders a week before Thanksgiving because there were too many.

Honey Baked Ham I've heard has delicious food. The closest one I can think of off the top of my head is on John Young Parkway in Orlando. It's about 10 minutes east of Disney World. I'm sure they would deliver to your hotel

Wow, thanks so much everyone for your suggestions. I found out that for $22 our resort has a grocery delivery service using gardengrocer.com too. Unfortunately I don't see any Thanksgiving choices there. I'll have to check into Publix. Too bad they don't deliver for a fee.

email them and ask if they are doing anything special for thanksgiving. They may be able to offer you something special.

You might just be a bit early for Thanksgiving to see things available. I know Publix does the whole Thanksgiving thing since I thought about it a couple of years ago. But it's not on their website just yet. It's usually in their circular in the food section on Thursdays but nothing yet. I guess they are still running Halloween specials.

Also - check into Kroger's. They aren't as plentiful in the Orlando area but they'll probably have something for Thanksgiving too. Just go to kroger.com and search for the closest store to your resort. Your zip code to plug in is 34747. Then use mapquest or expedia to get the distance from your resort. Unfortunately, most of the places offereing a full Thanksgiving dinner will require pickup since the stories are either closed on that day or just working shorter hours.
