Thanksgiving Desserts

Sweet potato pie, chocolate cake, blackberry cobbler - I cannot think of what else we have every year, but I know we have those three for sure!

I'm also making a pumpkin cheesecake ~ really, how can that be bad, right? ;)

My other pies will be a chocolate cream pie and a Bananas Foster cream pie (my DD15 could eat this one all by herself, LOL and it is so easy to make).

I think just the 3 pies this year since it'll just be us and the ILs.

Sure ~ it is super easy!

1 graham cracker crust
2 small bananas
1 4 serving box banana pudding
1 cup Cool Whip, thawed
approx. 1/4 cup caramel sauce (I use the Smucker's in the squeeze bottle and just eyeball it)

Prepare the pudding as directed for pie filling.
Slice the bananas and fill the bottom of the pie shell with them.
Drizzle 1/2 of the caramel sauce over the bananas.
Pour the pie filling over the caramel and bananas.
Let set in fridge for about 15 minutes or until soft-set.
Spread Cool Whip over the pie filling and smooth out to edges.
Use the remaining caramel sauce to drizzle in a decorative pattern over the Cool Whip.
Refrigerate for at least one hour before serving.

Enjoy! :thumbsup2

I just remembered we had this trifle last year. It's so good.

1 box chocolate cake mix,
1 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
1 2/3 cups milk
3/4 cup strong brewed coffee
1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
6 (1.4 ounce) bars chocolate covered toffee bars, crushed

Bake the cake according to package directions; cool and cube into small squares. Make pudding according to package directions; chill. In a large serving dish, place half of the cake cubes. Drizzle half the coffee over the cake, and spread half of the pudding over that. Top with half of the whipped topping, sprinkled with half the crumbled candy bars. Repeat layers in the same order. Refrigerate until serving.

I make this but instead of coffee, I use KAHLUA :)

my cousin is diabetic and i've had gastric bypass surgery, so i usually make 2 sugar free lemon icebox pies (and he eats them both, but not all at one time, lol). i may also make something else, if asked. normally, my grandmother takes over everything and won't let anyone else cook.

We'll be having pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin pie. Can you tell our family loves pumpkin?

Thank you so much! It sounds easy and delicious!

Last year I made chocolate truffle pie. I'm working this year on Thanksgiving...maybe I'll make a pie to bring to work. Who knows.

This sounds great! Can you share the recipe, please? This year it's just my two daughters and me, so I'm not wanting to make too much.

Only two in our family - pumpkin pie and Dutch apple pie..:thumbsup2

We will be having pecan pie, key lime pie (my DH's favorite) and 2 pumpkin pies. I will probably also have brownies and cookies made to eat on during the week. I may through something chocolate in there before it is over.

TwingleMum, can you share your pumpkin gooey cake recipe, please? That might work just perfectly.

We'll be having pumpkin gooey cake

Ooooo, I forgot about pumpkin gooey cake:love:

Anyway, I am making an apple roll. I ordered a pumpkin pie, and a caramel pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving day. I am probably going to make a pumpkin roll on the Sat after.

It's a recipe from allrecipes.com...

Ingredients
12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 (9 inch) prepared chocolate cookie crumb crust

Directions
In microwave dish combine chocolate chips and 1/2 of the cream. Cook on high for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Cool to room temperature. Stir in sugar & vanilla. Set aside.

In small bowl, beat the rest of the cream until soft peaks form. Beat in chocolate mixture on high speed 1/3 at a time. mix well and spoon into crust.
Refrigerate at least 8 hours before serving.

I will be going to Baker's Square to purchase a lemon supreme pie as well as a french silk one.

I can't be trusted to make anything!
