Hi! We have a Disney trip planned for Thanksgiving Break 2013 (checking out the day before Thanksgiving), but we're considering changing to Spring Break 2014 (last full week of March). The hotel and length of stay would be the same either way.

During which week would you rather go to Disney? Why?

Thanksgiving is supposed to be less crowded than Easter/Spring break. We loved seeing the holiday decorations last Thanksgiving. Both are cooler temperature times. I lean towards Thanksgiving for the decorations (even if they aren't all up before you leave).

I don't know which might be less crowded, but I would agree with momofkids about going in November. You'll definitely see MK fully decorated (well, except for the tree), and I would think that most of the other decorations will be up as well.

I would think you would have a better time in November. You said you are checking out the day before Thanksgiving so the time you're there kids will pretty my h still be in school. Spring break kids are traditionally off for a week so there will be more families there (IMO).

I have never been during Thanksgiving..but I hear it is not too bad then as far as crowds are concerned. I was actually surprised to hear this. So, we are actually considering a Thanksgiving trip at some point.

We were there for Spring Break in 2012 just before Easter. It was awfully crowded and quite hot. We were just squeezing in an extra trip on our annual passes....otherwise we would ave NEVER gone then...and it is doubtful we would ever go back at that time of year. By 11:30 each day the parks were super crowded....I would not recommend Spring Break...at all!!

From when to when is yourbThanksgiving break?

We've done both spring break and Thanksgiving. We've found spring break to be more crowded. But we stay after Thanksgiving, as the next week actually slows down quite a bit.

If you can only do four days at Thanksgiving but a whole week of spring break, then do spring. But if you could do Thurs-Thurs of thanksgiving, I'd pick that.

We have been twice in March (the last week) for spring break and have been three times at Thanksgiving. Hands down, I would pick Thanksgiving.

Our first trip in March, I was surprised at lower crowds than I anticipated...I was expecting a madhouse. But is was a year that Easter was in mid-April, so that is why it wasn't so crazy. We were there this year for the same week and it was the week before Easter...it was really busy and if given a choice, I would not pick that week again. In March, we have not had the best weather either. The first trip...it rained and rained and the second trip, I wanted warm weather and it was not warm enough for me. We decided after this last trip that March was not a time that we ever wanted to go again.

Our Thanksgiving trips were not as busy as it was in March. With a plan and arriving at parks early, we had no problem doing everything that we wanted to do. The weather was beautiful every trip. The added bonus was the Christmas decorations and many of the holiday happenings already started. We really enjoyed that time of year and so far, it is our favorite time to go. I would go every Thanksgiving if I could. I hope this helps! :goodvibes

We're checking in the Friday before Thanksgiving and checking out the day before Thanksgiving, so five nights total.

I appreciate everyone's input...I tend to agree with everyone's assessments, but because of work constraints, the Thanksgiving trip might need to get pushed back to Spring Break.

Adding another twist, I just found out that our kids will have a 5 day weekend break in October (off Thurs. Fri. & Mon.). What does everyone think about October vs. Thanksgiving?

The up side of the October trip would be MNSSHP, our very favorite Disney thing, hands down. Going those days prior to Thanksgiving mean NO MVMCP. We are considering those days for 2014 as well, though--arrivingFriday before Thanksgiving--for a combo trip to see the new mine train and Diagon Alley over at Uni. Would rather do Disney first, then Uni, but trying to figure which way will be cheaper and less crowded....
