Thanksgiving 2007!!!

Giving us a ~*~bump~*~ back to page 1. :teeth:

We went to RI last weekend to visit a bunch of DIS friends. Has anyone else ever toured the mansions in Newport? They were amazing! We toured the "summer home" of the Vanderbilts (yeah....a pitiful 70 rooms plus a view of the ocean, what a shame to live in such poverty ;) ) plus the mansion where they filmed The Great Gatsby.

Next week at this time I'll be getting ready to go to AK! :cool1:

I hope everyone is having a great summer. :)

For the repeat Turkeys - is there a time change onboard for Cozumel? If so, I guess that means that the times shown on the Navigator for that day are local Cozumel time? I want to make sure that I have the times correct when I finalize my excursions. Thanks!

We've been to Cozumel twice, and, (for the life of me) I can't remember.:confused3 I don't think there is.

Rachel might be taking a friend along with us! I might be premature with my enthusiasm. We're good friends with her friend's parents, (we sailed RCCL last year, spring break) and we're hoping to persuade the whole family into going too. If not, Shanelle (her friend) will hopefully still go. (She's never been away from her family for a week, and we're keeping our fingers crossed.) The girls had a great time on RCCL, but Rachel wants her to see how 'Disney is SOOOOOO much better.' In short, she wants to share the fun of Pirate night, pirate: , the food:cake: , the deck parties :rockband: party: and the characters!:mickeyjum :goofy: :donald: pluto:

I'm really hoping it works out that she can come, as Rachel (typical of 'singleton' children?) is now at the age in which she wants a friend to come along on vacation. (Lisa and Chuck, it'll be here probably sooner than you expect!:rotfl: ) It's a lot of fun too, though.:)

Yes, Cozumel is in the Central time zone. The Navigator handed out the night before will say to turn clocks back 1 hour. The times listed on the Cozumel day will be central time listings.

As parents of a single child, we agree--Mason doesn't like to be the only child w/ a group of adults. That is why we all love vacations like the Disney Cruise---he loves the activities in the Kids Clubs. He has plenty of time to play w/ kids his age and then when he wants some "alone" time w/ mom and dad....we are there for him!! :thumbsup2

Lisa

I hope Rachel's friend can join her on the cruise! :cool1: How old is Rachel?

Rachel will have just turned 13 when we sail.:) (This was actually going to be a 'surprise' for her birthday, but she overheard me on the phone with DCL recently, when I was asking about 'adding another child' to the reservation.) She burst into the room (I had the door closed) 'Oh Mom, am I going to get to invite Shanelle?!"

We should all 'regroup' here with names and ages of the all of the children sailing. Maybe like a 'roll call' two weeks before the sail date?:yay:

I don't want to wish my life away, but I do wish it was the cruise date already!:rotfl2:

Priscilla

I agree - we need the roll call list! I keep getting confused with everyone's names and ages of the kids.

My DD Leah just turned 12 in June, so she is very close to Rachel's age. I guess Rachel will be going to the Teen club?

We always like to get to the port early and soak up the atmosphere before we sail. We should try to arrange a mini-meet at the port so we'll recognize each other on board. On my last cruise, we planned a meet before the sailaway party, but things were too hectic and the group never got together.

We like to get to the port early too!! In 2005 we had to wait in the parking lot across from the port for a while and the 1st 4 cars in line were all from disboards!! :cool1:

:lmao:

Lisa, remember the 'sea of green' T-shirts? Rob was very self-conscious about wearing a LIME GREEN T-shirt, until he saw dozens of people at the port wearing the same shirts!:rotfl2:

Priscilla

Have you seen this DISer's design website? http://www.patsdesigns.com/index.html

She does a great job with her designs! What do all of you think if I e-mailed her and asked her to design something for our cruise? We could use the design for door magnets and/or we could each take the design and iron it on shirts for our sailaway day?

The sea of green was amazing!! On our 2006 Turkey Magic cruise, people still remembered us as being part of the sea of green in 2005!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

You are correct, those designs are sooo cute!!! I didn't see any designs for Thanksgiving, but she did have a green diser Magic Cruise design!! It would be neat to have matching door magnets and/or tshirts!! :thumbsup2

Lisa

I've e-mailed her and asked her to make the lime green DIS design (design # Cruise15) for my room. :)

Any suggestions on what to put on a design for us? What did you have on your other shirts?

I've found these Thanksgiving clip art pictures so far:

Laura, I love the Pilgrim Mickey and Minnie!

Wouldn't a light, 'chocolate' brown t-shirt with that design titled with 'Disney Thanksgiving Magic 2007' be great? I wonder if we could have some t-shirts printed with that design?

Priscilla

Does anyone have any connections to someone who could silk screen the shirts with the design? We could also copy it onto the t-shirt transfer paper that they sell, but the last time I tried to do that, the quality wasn't that great.

I like the light chocolate brown color for the shirts. :thumbsup2 Very "Thanksgiving-y". :teeth:

Laura, I loved this website. What a cool idea for magnets or shirts! I'm in! I've been telling my DD's how people decorate their doors. By the way, my DD, Conner (yes, daughter) will be 12 when we cruise and my other DD, Olivia, will be almost 9 ( Nov. 25) when we sail. I liked the Disney Pilgrim art.Too Cute!

Melinda

Melinda - Leah is happy to hear about another girl her age who will be there! :cool1:

I received an e-mail back from Pat last night. She said just let her know what we want designed, and she'll be happy to make it for us. :)

Very creative ideas regarding tshirts!! On the Community Board I saw 2 recommendations for companies that personalize tshirts. One was zazzle.com. The other was cafepress.com

Lisa

Lisa - do you know if we could each order our shirts on our own from them, or do we have to get them printed in one batch? I wonder if they are allowed to use Disney's images due to copyright issues?

A former coworker of mine has a silk screen shop, but she has told me before that she couldn't print anything that was copyrighted.
