Got back last Sat. and finally had a few moments to thank everyone on this board for the excellent tips/tricks/info, etc., which made our trip (9/19 - 9/27) so special. My wife and I haven't been to the World in nearly 10 years, and it was the first trip for the kids (DD 5, DS4, and DD 1). My mom also joined us. Crowds were small, and we got to do nearly everything we planned. My wife was a little worried before the trip that I'd gone overboard with the planning, but afterward, she appreciated how organized and thought out our trip was afterward (thanks to you people).

We stayed at OKW in a 1 bedroom villa, and visited the parks for 5 days. Some highlights:

- The Princess Storybook Breakfast, and how excited both DS and DD were to meet Belle, Jasmine, Mulan, Aurora, and Snow White. Later that day in the Morocco area, Jasmine remembered meeting my daughter at breakfast!

- Fantasmic (without the long lines, thanks to the Dinner Package). I would not have known about it w/o this board.

- Goofy's Country Line Dance Jamboree: Thanks to what people said on this board, I knew Jesse, Woody, and the other characters went out into the audience, so we made of point of seeing this show, which we would otherwise have skipped. My DD got to hold Jesse's hand for one of the dances, and she was so excited.

- Pony rides at the Ft. Wilderness Petting Zoo (thanks to another tip here). The two oldest kids both rode the ponies, and it was one of their favorite rides!

- And on and on . . . It was a very special trip which the kids (and parents) will remember for a long time. The only sad note was having to come home, and not knowing when we'll return. I was OK with the DS missing a week of preschool and DD missing kindergarten, but I'd be reluctant to have them miss school in the future. I'm also no fan of crowds, so I don't know if we'd ever brave going down there during peak season. But at least this trip was great, and everyone had a magical time.

Thanks again!! :earsboy:

Oh, I am so happy that you and your family had such a magical time. Don't you just love these boards! Such great info. Although, I missed (shame on me for not paying close attention:blush: ) the part about Goofy's Country Line Dance Jamboree. Where is this? I have never heard of it and my daughter loves Jesse. I would love to take her there next month when I go.
My DD is 4, so she is not in school yet. But my DS is in 6th grade and I am taking him out of school the week before Thanksgiving. I have taken him out of school the last 2 times we have gone and I have to say I do not feel guilty about it:teeth: . It has never affected his grades and these memeries will last a lifetime. After all we all have to set our priorities in life, and WDW is a huge priority in my mine:jester:
Here's hoping you and your family have lots more disney magic:wizard: .

BikeFan...I'm glad y'all had such a wonderful trip! I'm jealous of the small crowds, don't think that will be the case when we're there in 2 weeks, darn it! ;)

MINNIEBOWSER....Goofy's Jamboree is in Frontierland in the MK, located in what was formally called the Golden Horseshoe Saloon.

For future reference . . . the crowds aren't too bad at the end of August. You can enjoy a leisurely trip & not have to take your kids out of school. The one down side - it can be pretty hot & humid, but you may be used that from living in VA.

I'm glad you had a great trip!

I'm so glad you had such a great trip! I'm heading out tomorrow and I hope we find the same luck with lines. Welcome home. :)

Welcome back, BikeFan! Sounds like you had a great trip. Are you going to be posting a trip report on our trip reports board?

snuggles, have a magical trip. Fingers crossed for no long lines :)

As Baloo said, it's in Frontierland in the MK. It's new this year, and it's great for kids. The audience area is an open floor, with no chairs (to leave room for dancing). There are a few benches near the back, plus an upstairs balconey perfect for videotaping, or just observing. Characters include Jesse, Woody, Goofy, Chip, and Dale. They come right out into the audience, and the kids just love it. Definitely take your daughter if she's a Jesse fan. :earsboy:

To NativeTxn: No, I probably won't be posting a trip report (unless someone really wants one :)); mostly, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone. The people on this board definitely made our trip SO much better, and I'm grateful.

Is Goofy's Dancing Jamboree part of a sit down meal??? Do you need priority seating?

No, it's just a standard show with characters.
