The ONLY 30 minute period I was away from my house yesterday, and BOTH girls were up and awake, was the time UPS chose to deliver all of these exciting looking boxes with POTTERY BARN TEEN splashed all across them -aarrggghhh!!!!! Guess the "Mom, is there any way you could clean out the playroom and fix it up so we could actually use it? Sorry, honey, I just can't get that all done by Christmas. Maybe we can do it this summer." surprise isn't so surprising anymore, what with the boxes that could only, and do, hold lounge chairs, and the mysterious long, rolled, heavy item that -- could it be? Of course! - is a new rug. Oh, well, at least they will be surprised at the vintage Disney posters I had framed for the walls, and the paint sample cards they will use to get to choose a new wall color after Christmas!!!!

Thats why I was so pleased with American Girl. All of DD's things came in a plain brown box.

I never understood why companies splash their logo all over the boxes especially during christmas time.

Really? I took American Girl's website at its word that it would be on the boxes, so had it shipped to my mom's. Oh, well!

That might not work either. I got my husband a present from the NFL online store a couple of years ago and had it sent to my mom's house. They called my house spoke to my husband -- whose name was no where on the order information -- to confirm that the item from the NFL store is to be shipped to a different address. He knew EXACTLY what it was.

I did call back and told them I appreciated them checking, they really should be more aware during the Christmas season that the packages maybe Christmas presents and they should only speak with the person who placed the order.

When my dd was younger I got her a big Polly Pocket toy from JCPenny and they shipped it as is! Not even in a box!! They just took the item and slapped a label on it and sent it to us!!! I was so mad and called them to complaint(not that did any good ). The only good part was I was able to intercept the UPS man and had him quickly put it in the garage before my dd saw it.

I have all Christmas related items shipped to my aunt's house! I felt so awful this year though...I placed an order at Amazon for 2 items and one at American Girl for 4 items, and both companies sent EACH ITEM OUT SEPERATELY!! So my poor aunt had to receive 6 different boxes for me! She didn't mind, but I still felt bad!

At our old house, UPS came when the kids were at school, so it wasn't a problem, but now that we are in the new house, they come at 4pm or later, when the kids are home, so I had to have it sent someplace else!

This happened with an electric guitar I ordered early for christmas. The box came and splashed all over it was a picture of the guitar. I could of dealt with it had it just had the store name but showing a picture of what was in the box was hard to overcome. Luckily it was my daughters birthday so I just gave it to her for that occasion.
I do agree though these companies need to either get a clue or we need a good neighbor to ship things to, thought that is not always possible.
