Ok, so after seeing some recent pictures of Illuminations that you took, I decided to try some of my own from the same location and I LOVED how they turned out!!!! What does everyone think??

I think they look great! That is a nice spot to shoot from for sure. :thumbsup2

Great pictures. What spot would that be...right across the lake from America?? We were planning on sitting on the patio at the Cantina in Mexico next go around to view the fireworks, but after seeing these shots, I may have to switch! :thumbsup2

That's exactly where we were. There is a large open area right across from the American Pavillion that slopes down towards the water. I was as far up as I could go, so that everyone else was lower than my camera and I could shoot over most of their heads. Be prepared though, it's a popular spot and I had to get there almost an hour and a half early to secure my spot.

That's the plan. We're going to eat and drink around the world and then settle into our spots for Illuminations to enjoy dessert somewhere between 1 and 1.5 hours early. After all those good multi-cultural alcoholic beverages though...who knows, my pictures might come out blurry due to something other than camera shake ;)

I can't view the EXIF while at work, mind sharing what settings you used? Fireworks are something I have yet to shoot and don't know if I'll have a chance before our 09 trip to Disney, so I'm trying to get the broadest scope of camera settings possible to experiment with.

Absolutely I don't mind sharing the EXIF. I shot at ISO 200 with a 6 second shutter speed and I believe the aperture was at f/16. I'll double check when I get home because I'm like you, I can't view it at work either and while I'm 99% sure it was f/16 there's still that 1%. :thumbsup2

f/16 might be a little on the small side. I would go with no more than f/11 especially if your using a kit lens. That's right in the sweet spot area for kit lenses.
