Thankful and Thriving-November 2024 WISH

I'm the same with creating order where I can and that started with achieving my goals yesterday: three bags went to GW with three more ready for the local women's shelter, and a stack of books was rehomed. It was so much fun wandering thru town looking for Little Libraries that I've pulled another stack of books to do it again today. I've also pulled yarn and knitting books to drop off at the free box at the yarn store. Sadly, the work done doesn't really show yet, as things came out of drawers and closets.

I had forgotten my crochet class was today, so that is a nice surprise. After that I'll be doing more household organizing, focusing on things that will be visible.

I am checking in after a whirlwind week or two. I got sick from my Covid vaccine which is why my asthma specialist makes me spread out my vaccines. I have gotten the flu, Moderna, and RSV. I still have to schedule my pneumonia shot.

I was observed 3 times in one day by the directors from downtown…5 times so far this year and my principal still needs to do her first with me making it 6 sometime soon. 2 a year is standard, but this evil overlord of a superintendent is so far up my behind, you can see her face when I open my mouth.

I designed a Christmas tree farm in my dramatic play center the day after the election because I needed to focus on my students and be creative.

I finished report cards on Friday just before the deadline but I am late with my lesson plans. Oh well. Here’s some photos of the farm. We still have a few tweaks, but we are nearly there.

Hi everyone!!! I have had the oddest week of my 23 year career this week. Wednesday morning we got a email saying funding had run out for one of our programs (this has never happened) and we needed to stop that program immediately. It was an absolutes mess trying to stop everything I had in motion. I have never experienced anything like this.

The email said multiple things were being investigated to see how this could have possibly happened…I have a suspicion that it’s a contractor issue and I suspected something was up for a while but I don’t want to jump to conclusions.

Saturdays quiz:

This weekend was good I always decorate for Christmas this weekend because it’s a long weekend for me. I hosted fall family birthdays yesterday and had coffee bar at church today after 1st service. Self care was making some garlands while watching the Eagles game!!

Go Birds 🦅!!!!

I got 6/12 on the quiz. I guessed a lot but did well when we got to more of the geography questions.

This weekend I spent mostly on the couch. I woke up with a horrible migraine on Saturday. It wa the worst one I have had in a long time. I had to take my migraine pill and I am still dealing with a little bit of a headache. My migraine medicine makes me sleeping so I slept on and off all Saturday. I think I have also picked up a cold from DS nothing bad though which is good. Yesterday, we watched football and made homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner.

Hello all! Yesterday I spent a good hunk of the day at a small business fair with DS12. His scout troop received a table to pre-sell Christmas wreaths in exchange for helping vendors set up and break down their stands.
Today my in laws took the kids out for lunch so I made some Amazon returns at kohls, made a batch of soup for the freezer and dinner for Wednesday. Motivation is to keep on top of the planning dinners in advance as that has been working well in keeping me organized.

Motivated this week to do well with movement and tracking, started strong today hoping that continues!

I was off today so I walked at the spca this morning and it was good for the most part. I did have a dog that was just off a stray hold today so first walk at the shelter and after my experience I don’t think he’s ever had a walk in his life!!!! Alligator rolling, trying to back out of the leach, panicking, leash biting, jumping almost higher than my head…whew that was a tough one. I hope he gets better with time or gets adopted into a home with a yard!!

I finished my indoor and outdoor Christmas decorating today, I have worked 4 days now on it and you know when your just done decorating…like cannot take another minute?!?! I got that way about a hour ago so happy to be done!!

Enjoy your evening everyone!

This week we are heading to Pigeon Forge for a family wedding. I'm motivated to have a good and active week. We are driving there Wednesday, so will be a pretty sedentary day (8+ hours of driving), but Thursday and Friday will be pretty active I think. Not sure exactly what everyone's doing yet, but should be fun!

My motivation for this week is to keep going. The plan is to sort, purge and organize one area each day, even if it is just a drawer.

Today before my haircut I drove around Winslow checking things out. This included the two apartment complexes I am most interested in, which happen to be right next to each other. The one with the smaller less expensive apartments just isn't me but fortunately I liked the other one quite a bit. So, this month and next I'm going to work hard to get ready to move, so that I'll be able to go whenever something in that complex comes up for rent... even if it ends up being before my March vacation.

TUESDAY TOPIC: LONG WINTER NIGHTS

To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,
and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.

—Wendell Berry

How are y'all doing with the time change? I think I live the furthest north and sun set is now 4:36pm... I kid you not. It has really thrown me for a loop, as 6p feels like midnight and I keep wondering why people don't have the Christmas lights up yet because surely, we are in the dead of winter. I think I need to do what the poem says, go outside and stand in the dark and let it soak it in. When is sunset for you? Do you have any things you do to adjust?

Sunset is 4:35 pm today. I do not enjoy how early it gets dark now. I work in the inner city and it’s not a safe area. It feels more unsafe after dark. I work till 5:00 pm most days, but this time of year, I leave earlier when I can. I truly dislike staying for Parent/Teacher conferences and other events which take place after dark.

It took me until today to adjust to the change. I wake at 5:40, but I have been waking an hour earlier until this morning.

I think I "win" 😆 - the app says my sunset will be 4:25 today.

I never really adjust "well" to the time change, but I'm working hard to be in bed by 9:00 because the cats think it's breakfast time at 4:30 right now.
:cat::cat: :scared1:

I'm trying to move that in small increments, but it's a slow process.

Coffee is my friend. :rotfl:

According to my weather app, our sunset is 4:49 today. I work 7-4, so I still drive home in the light, but it won't be too long until I'm driving to work in the dark. In December, I often work late, so I usually drive home in the dark too.

The time changes don't really affect my sleeping too much. I always stay up too late and wake with the alarm. I never feel like getting up (would rather sleep in), so I don't notice the difference too much honestly.

Even when our kids were little, I don't remember it being too big of a deal for our family. I think we're all just good sleepers lol!
