Thank you for cancelling ADR

In June, my DH asked me if we could find an ADR in MK for that evening:rotfl: I went to my SSR CM at about 5:00pm and lo and behold, there was an ADR available at Liberty Tree Tavern for 8:20pm! According to the CM, the ADR was not available 10 minutes before, and that was the first one she was able to get that day at MK.

So, thank you to the folks who were kind enough to cancel when they realized they were not going to use the ADR (pixiedust: to you), and may that be a great example for everyone else to follow!

Good stuff.:)
I agree.. if we take the time to cancel our ADR' it could really help another family out:goodvibes

I TOTALLY AGREE! IF YOUR NOT GOING PLEASE CANCEL!:
thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

If I cancel a trip while on the phone I always cancel ADRS. If I change any ADRS I make my new one first per advice of dining then we go back & cancel. . But to the OP great getting what you wanted.

I'd like to join the club! I've cancelled or changed many ADRs in the past. Know what's scary? When I call to cancel b/c plans changed - the CM's seemly very surprised and delighted that I called to cancel in advance! I have a feeling it does not happen that often. Yeah me! Yeah Cancelers! :lmao:

Put the Disney Dinning number on your cell then you have no excuse.

I am a great canceler of last minute dining reservations. Rarely double booked, frequently plagued by changing our mind about what we're hungry for at the last minute. I am glad to see that others are doing it too. It's just courtesy and treating others as you'd like to be treated.

I am glad OP was able to get the res. I always cancel (even if it a last minute change I call and cancel). We teach our children to be aware of how their actions affect others, whether it be loud noise, running in crowded areas, giving a smile or cancelling a reservation. If we no longer need a reservation and we open it up for someone else, then we have just done a good deed.

I love giving smiles to folks, even if I cannot see them smile.

Thats exactly what I do! Sometimes Im having fun at another park and dont get to get over to where my ressie is, or sometimes exhaustion just creeps up on me.

Put that number in your cell and use it!!!

It is this kind of post that really restores my faith in people. Given that it is often a long distance call, and given that there is nothing that says you have to do it, to have people cancelling ADRs they don't need so others can benefit is a wonderful thing and a great example of "Pay it Forward".

Wow, Great thread! I totally agree that if you don't plan to use your reservation PLEASE cancel. We are first timers to Disney but definately plan to cancel any reservation we may not be able to make. Thanks everyone!!

Also, if you know in advance that you aren't going to keep a reservation please post it on the appropriate month thread as there are LOTS of people looking and HOPING for cancellation to their favorite dining place.

Very true! Same thing happens when I call to cancel. The cm always comments on how nice it was to call and cancel in case someone else could use it.

OK, I have a question about cancelling. Hypothetical situation: I am in MK and have a ressie at AK. We decide not to make the ressie and want to cancel -- and I don't have a cell phone. Can I cancel at guest relations or something?

I think you can cancel at guest relations. I have called from our hotel room on a couple of occasions and it was not long distance.

Yes you can. I did it back in the day before my cell was attached to me.
