Thank you card after job interview question?

Aaaaaaah I caught this thread almost "too late"

I interviewed today also (good luck OP!) and now I want to send a "thank you"

hand written or typed? (I have neat handwriting if it matters)

I leave for vacation at 9am (and it's 1am) so I better get busy. Ugh I was going to sleep!
Hand-written (or printed if your cursive isn't especially legible). It's probably not too late - do you know if your airport has mailing facilities?

It's not too late, I'm driving... just can't write a note and drive at the same time :rotfl:

Ok, handwritten it is! Time to find some cards in my stash.

I was a hiring manager in marketing for many years, and was a VP level exec who WAS hired by various organizations over the years, and went through many high level interviews.

ALWAYS sent a thank you LETTER after an interview. The handwritten note thing...not so professional, IMHO. But it's still better than nothing! ANYTHING that reiterates how interested you are in a particular position, and that reinforces your strengths about said position is definitely a good thing. It may NOT be what gets you the job, but it NEVER hurts.

Good luck to all the job hunters! :thumbsup2

Still trying to word this letter right :sad2:

I bet the woman who interviewed me is a "handwritten note" kind of person so I'm going to go with that one...

I want to send a separate note to the person who gave me the tour but I don't have her last name. Would it be tacky to put both in 1 envelope marked with interviewer's name/address and 2 separate envelopes inside with each name on it?

It's been ages since I interviewed...but do interviews generally have a way to find out how the interviewers' names are spelled????

Sure! Most large businesses/institutions will have a web site. If someone does minimal online research for my department, it lists everyone's names, email addresses and phone numbers. You can also call the business after the interview and ask for the correct spelling of the name from a receptionist or secretary.

OK. What happens when you are not 100% positive about one of the interviews names? I "think" that it was Jan, but could have been Janice. I was nervous but I know that it started with a "J" and the two people in the company directory both have the same title. Would you call the receptionist to see if she knew? I know that either way, I will embarrass myself. :confused3

OK, called the receptionist, she remembers me (at least I made an impression on her) LOL.....I was totally wrong on the name. It was Janice, but I do think that during the interview they called her Jan. I knew that I should have written it down, but didn't...my mistake.

Go ahead and call. Believe me, they've been asked before and they won't bat an eye.
