I'll try to respond to a few naysayers here...
First, I do think yourtravelpro summed it up quite well, and I say, yeah, that's it. As for me saying whom I ignore, I have not said. I said I am using it, and passing on the fact that it is here, and how to use it, for those who might want to, period.
From reading here, it would appear my assumption was correct, people might like to use the feature (a good one), but either were not aware it was available in the first place, or possibly how to use it, if they knew it was there. If some can now use it, to make their time on the DIS more enjoyable (I think that is probably why it is there), then that is great, I am glad I passed on the tip.
I was not alerting the entire DIS community of my placing someone on ignore, but rather simply posting that it is a great feature, (no different than if I was telling people I discovered how to use the Enhanced Mode of the vB Code, am using it, enjoying it, are you aware of it, maybe you might want to use it. Don't be such an alarmist, trishy, you sound silly.
Snoop, the 'hurt feelings' I think, are repetitive ones from the usual group. But I know what you are saying.
BTP or JTB, I too honestly thought you were gone. But, just so you are driving in the correct lane here, know well that the filter's purpose is to, in fact, filter certain words, so if I happen to say dog **** and it filters it, I have not bypassed it, but rather have allowed it to function properly, thereby, staying within the guidelines of not bypassing the filter, which true, is bannable. As far as being without sin, not here. I was baptized, not by JTB, but I was, long ago, don't know the guys name. And still I sin, probably daily. I'm working on it though.
As for my 'add-on' post, that being about a sleazeball sending out suggestive, requestive PM's to ladies here, that came to me to add as I was explaining about ignore. I had recalled that within the past week or so I had been asked about this guy and his PM's, by, I think, four different ladies. I guess they felt comfortable enough with me to ask me, and for that I thank them. And with this thread tonight, two more have asked me, a total of six, all the same, all by the same guy. Now, in RL, if that were going on in my neighborhood, some guy asking ladies to do weird things, (actually, that probably is against the law in RL, but I guess not on the Net), I would probably be inclined to pass on the word to those who might not be aware that there has been other incidences, if they themselves were appoached, and to please be careful, and maybe not reply or respond to those requests, and possibly encouraging such behavior to continue. In all cases I have told the ladies I thought it strange (apparently they did too, they asked me), but to do what they thought correct for them. In our town, we call it 'Neighborhood Watch'. We have signs that warn those who might want to prey on people in our neighborhood that we, as friends and neighbors, do in fact, look out for one another. Almost like family.
All in all, a few naysayers, they will always be there. But, it does seem like some people did learn a few new things from this thread, and for that I am happy. If a few of you are more frustrated by me, too bad, ignore me.
