TGIF: The College Years

That's so fun! In high school I took a business management class and I had to start my own business so my friend Glenn and I started our own travel agency and our final paper was on how to plan a trip to Disney World!

That's AWESOME! I love it haha.

So my first day of classes was tomorrow and I'm used to being off on Friday's but I only have one class so it's not too bad, and that one class was cancelled for tomorrow! Woohoo, three more days of winter break!

You're so lucky you don't have to start till now. I started back on the 14th. do you then have to go longer in the summer though?

Are all of you that are just starting classes at semester schools, or are any other schools on quarters like us?

And I definitely have all the sing-a-long tapes at home. I used to watch them constantly when I was little. Last year my roommate and I started talking about them and found some videos of the intro song on youtube, and we got ridiculously excited.

well, my first class today (it was at 11) was cancelled.. any other time i'd be happy. but you see, it was my first class and i got up, took a shower, rushed around to make it there, and then there was a note on the door. i mean im glad i didn't have to sit there and listen to my prof, but i wish i knew that class was cancelled last night!

I hate when that happens! I don't see why they don't just email you if they're cancelling. It can't be that much harder than putting a note on the door.

None of my classes have been cancelled so far this quarter, but I did skip one yesterday so I could take a nap...

I am SO with you!! I have a meeting at 10 and then class at 11-11:50 and I'm done! Well, I get to go visit my 2nd graders, but that doesn't count.

I haven't had any classes canceled yet this semester but I had to skip one today because there were two accidents on the freeway this morning and traffic was at a stop for about half an hour.

For my psych class you can participate in 4 expiriments for 4%, so I did one today (they are run by Masters students)

Anyways, I was told that I was going to have to give a speech and then be critiqued!!! And then she said first I had to fill out some surveys (which were all about how I was feeling at the moment....some really random questions!! lol "do you feel vengeful" "do you feel inferior to your classmates" etc)
THEN she says "Before you do your speech we're gonna have you do a market research taste test on cookies" so she bring in 3 types of cookies, and tell me I have 10 minutes, I have to try at LEAST one of each cookie and rate them, and I could have as many as I wanted in that 10 minutes. And so I did that, and then she had me fill out about 200 more questions about how I feel about myself and how I feel about eating and dieting and stuff.
Then she tells me that I didn't have to do a speech, and Iwas part of an experiment to see how people react to food under certain moods! (mine being nervousness!! obviously)


Can I just tell oyu how relieved I was!!!!!!!

Have you guys ever participated in any psych experiments on your campus?
I've done 2 others, they are pretty interesting.


Anyways TGIF!!! (although I have to work til 11. BLEH!)

I've never done a psych experiment, but that one sounds kind of funny... I'm glad you didn't have to actually give a speech!

I also probably would have skewed their results or something, because nervous or not, I would have been like, "ooh, free cookies!" and eaten them all or something.

I did a psych experiment last year where letters would flash on the computer screen really fast in different colors and I had to remember what the letters were in the correct order. I think it was a test for memory and maybe the effect of color and length of seeing something on memory. It was kind of cool though. Not nearly as stressful as the experiment you had to do though.

Unfortunately I'm being lame and staying home, doing homework, and going to bed early. I have a prospectus for a huge research paper due Monday, and I haven't done any research yet, so I really need to be productive. Plus I have to work at 7:30 tomorrow morning... last week I was a little, um, affected by beverages Friday night and I ended up being late to work. Not making that mistake again tonight!

I'm going shopping tonight and then going over to my cousin's because she goes back to school in Maryland tomorrow. Then I'm probably just hanging out and watching some movies.

Great idea on the thread name melly! Definitely loved the old TGIF shows...boy meets world was my fave! (Love the BMW icon in your siggy, by the way!)
