TGIF: The College Years

Hey everyone,
I just thought I would join in on this thread because I have never found a college thread that was good before because I'm not doing the college program. It seems like there are some really awesome people on this thread that I have things in common with so thats awesome. I am a elementary education major in Iowa. I am 19 and I have a very varied taste in music from rock like linkin park and papa roach to musicals and josh groban. It would be cool to get to know all of you here on this thread. (Sorry if I wrote too much)
p.s. that is so terrible about heath ledger, he was one of my favorite actors and I was just so shocked when I heard about him.

...yeah, that would be incredibly sweet, except that I have to work at 7:30 or 8:30 every day except Sundays and Thursdays. So it pretty much ruins my schedule. I'm really, really hoping for a better work schedule next quarter, but it gets assigned so I don't really have a choice.

I guess since tomorrow is an 8:30 work day I should probably get to bed... good night all!

I work @ AMC. It's pretty sweet...free movies (which is awesome for a movie nerd like myself)

Most of the Arts and Sciences majors here don't have classes on fridays, actually... I think I've had one poli sci class on a friday, but all my other friday classes have been GEC's. It's pretty nice, but I think we're probably all getting spoiled!

I work for the Student Computer Centers on campus... so basically I just sit in a computer lab and keep track of how many people come in and try to help them if they need it. It's actually pretty nice, because I just facebook and do my homework the whole time, sometimes the shifts just suck.

Your job sounds cool, free movies are always good!

Yep, it was my first day of classes...They went pretty good! Just talked about what we would be doing in the class and blah blah blah. I was really nervous though so I'm glad the B.F. was there to calm me down!

My classes started last Thursday, yuck. lol.
Italian 202 is going to kick my butt, I'm soo bad at languages. Yet I'm still studying abroad in Italy next fall, go figure. haha

My directing class is going to be sooo cool. Right now, we are picking a 5-10 minute scene to direct for a Lunchtime Theatre Series. The auditions for the scenes are next week, and I get to cast/direct a scene. I'm probably going to do a scene from Tony Kushner's play "Angels in America."

What clubs/activities does everyone do?

As you could probably guess, I'm heavily involved in the theatre department, haha. I'm currently in the Winter Mainstage (A Streetcar Named Desire). And I'm also in SMuT (Student Musical Theatre), and we are currently in the process of deciding what musical to perform this spring. I'm also in the Catholic Mass Choir too.

I saw Cloverfield! It was pretty good as long as you don't expect too much. It's a lot of screaming around a shaky camera, but the suspense was good. They don't tell you where the monster came from, why it's there or what happens to it so there's not much of a plot line, but it's good for some mindless suspense
