TFW Meet 2008 The Mission: Wiener Salad & Margaritas - Trip Report Links on Page 1

V, we'll be checking on you. I'm glad it doesn't look too strong, at least.

The surgery is at 3:00 my time, so I'll know more this afternoon.

Lessa, congrats on the flight change!

9am update:

Small changes in current track will make large changes in where the storm comes ashore. Currently landfall is expected between Bonita Springs and Cedar Key; it will probably have some impact on Pinellas. Storm still off the coast of Cuba and the planes cannot fly over Cuba, once it is over open waters the planes will fly through and we’ll have a better idea at the 11:00 am briefing from NOAA.

Not expecting storm effects until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. Some bands earlier in the day Tuesday, but eye will not be here until 10:00 pm Tuesday evening. Expect 70-80 mph winds and 4-5’ storm surge, 8-10” rain. TS winds arrive Tuesday around 1300, hurricane force winds by Tuesday at 2200.

EM currently recommending a mandatory level A evacuation at 6:00 am on Tuesday with selected shelters opening. This is not firm and could change with the 11:00 am update

Thank you! :thumbsup2

Janet, you're so excited you wrote DAYS, not HOURS. It's HOURS now :yay: :woohoo: :woohoo: :yay:

BTW~ Glad you finally packed ;)

Whoops...yep so excited I screwed up.

This could wreak some havoc in central FL - be safe folks! :grouphug:

V, the weather channel guy said all the "business" is on the east side of the storm....Is that the information you're getting, too?

Hey ladies, safe travels to all!

I am looking forward to meeting some of you at Petals on Sunday! I fly out Thursday at noon, think it'll be okay by then? Or do I face delays from backed up air travel from Wed? Ugh.

Stay safe you Floridians and those already there!

Yep. It's always strongest in the NE quadrant of a hurricane, but this one's so poorly organized that everything is in that area. For me, that means if it hits south of Tampa, I'm good. If it hits straight on Tampa, I'm good. North of Tampa = BAD.

But, whatever's good for me will not be good for inland areas. It's still not expected to be a big hurricane, but when they move inland, they spawn tornadoes, so that's a major concern.

:sad1:

Well that look CRAPTASTIC! :headache: Looks like I'm going to be delayed in Atlanta. Hopefully I'll get into Orlando sometime on Wednesday.

If only I could convince the family to leave today, we could arrive early on Tuesday. Wonder if there are any resorts available for tomorrow? :scratchin:

Hey V - stay safe. Keep us updated on your situation. And head to Vero, if you have to. ;)

This is all going to make for a very interesting drive over from 95.:headache:

Well Continental just added Orlando Int'l to the list to make weather related flight changes for travel through 8/19.

T - you arrive on the morning of 8/20 right? Hopefully the airport is up and running by then. Are you on Airtran?

I just hope the airport doesn't sustain damage and that the airlines get the schedules back on course ASAP.

V and Z stay safe and in touch!

Janet and Lessa call us and let us know you got there ok and see if you can get in touch with Kat and Jo and check on them too.

Kate - when are you driving in?

Yup, my flight is supposed to arrive in at 9:30am Wed. Oh and yes I'm on Airtran. I have a layover in Atlanta, which I suppose is good as it's an Airtran hub.

We were planning on either leaving here Wednesday around 5, staying the night in Jacksonville, and finishing the drive early Thursday, or we are leaving here early Thursday and driving straight through to Orlando. If we wait and leave Thursday, it'll be all rain from here to there. If we leave Wednesday, we'll hit some rain as we get closer to Jax, but S. Carolina and Georgia should still be okay. Maybe.

I don't mind driving in the rain. But the idea of tornadoes...

When is Lauralee heading over from Vero? She'll be in the same situation as me.

She's leaving Thursday for Orlando and I quote "Come hell or high water!" :lmao:

You drivers, stay safe! Kate, text us or something so we can keep tabs on you. :thumbsup2

So T, they won't let you leave earlier?

So T, they won't let you leave earlier?
Apparently not without some kind of fee. Beside, (cover your eyes, Mo) TE nor Waldo are even PACKED yet! :faint:

I'm just going to chill here and see what happens. Fingers crossed we only see slight delays from Atlanta to Orlando. :worship:

The weather channel is being so laid back about this storm :confused3 They are usually on the forefront of hype. The guy was just saying how it's really not a big storm, nor is it strong, and it's really just going to result in heavy rain throughout Florida on Tuesday and into Wednesday, then it's heading north.

Now I don't know what to think.

Looks like Faye is trying to ruin FOckerfest, but we won't let her:thumbsup2 Based on the list T posted it looks like MCO won't be effected, at least directly. Connections coming from Tampa, etc could be a problem.

Back from taking Tink to the doggiw hotel and going to the bank. HAving something to eat and then going to get my pedicure done.

T!!! You yelled at me for not being packed and your own parents aren't packed - FOR SHAME!
