Test Track vs Radiator Springs Racers

They use the same ride mechanism, but are as similar as EE and The Matterhorn... that is to say, not very.

Yes, very similar. I'd actually give a bit of a nod in Test Track now to overall experience, just because of the designing your own car it competing against others. It makes no difference on the ride itself, but the overall experience lasts a bit longer. If he's not scared on Radiator Springs then he should be fine on Test Track.

Absolutely!
While the car drive mechanisms are about the same...
the RIDE experiences are not similar at ALL!

Radiator Springs Racers tell a story and offer many unique "dark ride" scenes during the ride.
Lots of color, excitement and even humor… with transformational "magic" and outdoor scenic vistas unmatched on just about any Disney ride in the US.

Test Track has now been stripped and dumbed-down to level of riding through a light-box.

RSR have nearly singlehandedly saved Disney California Adventure as a popular theme park.

Ok. Here is a picture of Rock'nRoller Coaster. Think of it as Radiator Springs quality of theming:

Here is a picture of the exact clone built by the same company in Europe called Xpress. Think of it as Test Track theming:

Ok. It's not that bad. But the new Test Track theme is awfully bland until the fast part outside. We think of it as "The future as imagined 30 years ago".

I've only ridden Test Track twice, but I've ridden RSR dozens of times. As far as the speed, I feel like Test Track is tamer because you do a lot of stopping and starting while the "tests" are conducted whereas RSR has one continuous race. If he can handle RSR, the ride part of Test Track might be less interesting and distracting, but he should be completely fine with the actual speed etc.

There are a few parts that are similar, but the Radiator Springs Racers is a far better ride.

This, at RSR...

...versus this, at TT...

I think (and it is my opinion) that RSR outclasses TT by a factor of 10 or more...

and is much more family friendly than TT.

The entire "RSR is soooo much better than TT" is just lost on me (and DH and DGD too). While RSR is a better overall ride I just don't find the rides that far apart. I do think they are quite similar when you get right down to it. I can't imagine a child that liked riding RSR would not like TT, or vice versa. They are similar enough that if you enjoy riding one you would enjoy riding the other.

I think Radiator Springs is a better ride because of it's story and use of animatronics but you are correct that on the nity grity of the ride they are the same. If it is just the track part of the ride they are the almost exactly the same.

We find TT to be a little boring. I wish it was shutting down instead of Soarin'. The theming and track are bland. There's one point where it speeds up in a straight line and makes a turn. Woohoo:rolleyes: It does feel slightly faster than RSR, and the build part is ok. RSR has awesome theming. The ride itself is interesting and varied. The race against the other car is fun too. In Summer 2013, we waited probably over an hour for an RSR FP, then we waited probably close to 2 hours to ride it, once our FP window started:crazy: I think it was worth it. I wouldn't want to do that every trip, but I would do it again. If I had to wait that long to ride TT, I would be very angry:furious:

If you like the build part, just do Sum of All Thrills, assuming you meet the height requirement. The build is awesome on that. The rides not bad. It's not as good at the Kuka arm rides at Universal, but it's still fun to ride what you build.

He should have no problems with test track. I am an old scardey cat and I ride test track. Radiator springs racers is a better ride.

If you have just adults or older children, the single rider line on RSR is great, we never waited more than 30 min. Our first trip that it was open we rode it 9 times over 4 or 5 days. I agree that TT is boring, I do it once a trip, that's enough.

Ah, see, I despise the fake car-designing thing. Such a waste of time (aka place to stash people so the line doesn't look as long from the outside or feel as long to those enjoying that part of it).

I liked TT until it was redesigned and until I rode RSR. If you had the two rides side by side, same wait time...I'd go with RSR every single time.

I am blown away at those who say they are very similar.

Absolutley this!

RSR is a far superior ride for theming and entertainment value.
