Test Track(Epcot)

I plan to do Test Track fairly early on my Epcot day next month, but need to know the differences between Standby, Fastpass, and Single Rider lines, aside from the obvious. This will be my first visit. How does each impact the overall experience?

Standby gets to fully design their car with many customization options.

Single Rider only gets to pick from a couple of options.

Not sure about FP.

I always use SR at Test Track if solo but I'm really not all that interested in adding spoilers and flame decals to my car. Our son would have really enjoyed the design aspect when he was a kid.

Thanks. Test Track is a priority ride for me, but I am not sure how to approach it. Even though I am going to the Food & Wine Festival, I still plan to hit all of the headliners while waiting on the booths to open. Fortunately, the lines for rides will be a lot slower than during the summer.

IMHO, the worst thing about SR at Test Track is being seated with a group of five who are sometimes not very happy to have a hitchhiker in their car/photo.

Downside is that if I did the regular line, they may still put me with other people.

Single Rider is awesome at Test Track! It goes very fast. If you want to fully design a car, you can go in through the exit first and us a kiosk there. I usually ride once, then stop on the way out to design for next time. They are saved for a while. They will put you with other people on that ride, so there is no way to avoid that. If you are by yourself, use Single Rider and save the FastPass.

Of course, part of that depends on what I can get 30 days out as well. Staying off site this time to save a little cash, so having to take what I can get. AK turned out to be the biggest pain, but I got most of what I wanted at least, as far as fastpasses, though not at the times I wanted. Magic Kingdom I was having to rework my plan anyway, since the friend I was expecting ended up not being able to go. I do have an extra 1 day pass beyond my 4 park one, so I may do an extra day at Epcot, especially given I am going during Food and Wine.

I was going to say exactly this. Single rider is awesome and a great way to save that tiered FP for something else. There are only 3 kiosks (all together) for doing this. Since I tend to ride TT single rider multiple times during a trip, the first time I'll usually use the "express" kiosk on the way in, then do a more detailed design after the ride, if the line isn't too bad...then use it the next time, even if it isn't the same day.

It actually worked out that I was able to fit in two Epcot days(day and a half really, but especially important during Food & Wine), and I got a Soarin Fastpass on my first day, so I may be able to get a Test Track on the second. I am doing the half day the first day, before I take the monorail to the Halloween party.

You could. The other thing to remember with Test Track single rider is that, especially in the morning, the single rider line usually is quite short. I've seen it posted as 10 or 20 minutes but almost walk-on in reality. One time I think I rode it 4 times before 10:00 using single rider (don't count on that, though!). The design aspect is nice, but has zero impact on the ride itself...

I will bear that in mind. Even though I haven't gotten all of the FP+ times in the parks I wanted, I have basically been targeting busier times for those and using standby in an order that most people won't consider because they have to hit certain attractions first. Helps me get more done as a solo guest.

Ugh! I do the SR a lot for Test Track but one time they put me in a row with a father and son, I was behind them, so I would board last in the row. The father and son took both end seats and left the middle seat open so I couldn't go on. The CM's were not happy and they tried yelling to them that I was being seated in their row and to move down a seat.. and they completely ignored the CM's. People can be so rude! There was a family of 5 boarding next, so they put me in their car and the family was happy to have me along, but I still couldn't believe the way the father and son acted before that.

Wow. I cannot believe that either, how awful. I know CMs wouldn't do this, but I would've enjoyed seeing them stop the ride from going forward until they moved over. (But at that point, who wants to sit next to them anyway?) What jerks. Glad you had a nicer family to ride with in the next car!

I did single rider a bunch for TT on my recent solo visit -- great to just walk on and breeze through. On the last time I hopped off Soarin', had a half hour or so until an ADR in WS, and just walked over to TT to see the SR queue. Posted wait time of 20 min, actually rode in 10-15; standby 80-85.


re: sitting with other parties, most have ignored me on TT, Dinosaur, RnR and the like. I became queue pals with a grandfather in the SR line for TT, he ended up in the seat behind me. *cherishes the ride photo*

Some people are entitled. You find that no matter what form of travel you prefer. All you can really do is just go on. Besides, if they are that entitled, they would have done everything they could to make you miserable for that 6 minutes. You were better off.

I think (and hope) that's a pretty rare occurrence. Over the years I've probably ridden TT single line 100 or so times and have never had an issue. Hope it stays that way.

Yes it is rare. I have ridden the Singler Rider line for Test Track so many times, but that one time will always stick out to me. Never had an issue any other time.
