mac - sorry for you & family, what an ordeal for anyone, let alone elderly & mobility challenged. This sure will give them a good story to tell...The Blizzard of '06. Know my mom could use some new material.;)

Got whupped playing 500 w/DH (we're all alone again tonight) glass of vino & a movie sounds good to me, night all.

Oh mac, sorry about all the troubles with the folks...hope all is well....what an ordeal :grouphug:

Jules, tell us about going to intern at Disney? that is cool, why haven't you told us about it???????? We have a need to know this stuff LOL

KS, new car sounds nice, and as an officer of the law, he KNOWS not to speed about :thumbsup2

yea, i wanna know about the internship also....

ks, it is always something in my neck of the woods.

i belong to a very disfunctional family....but i am used to them.

morning all.........boy, I need to shake a leg and get some stuff done...but I don't wanna, I don't wanna......... :rotfl:

Mac, I always say our family puts the "fun" in dysfunctional :rotfl2: and after some people you see and read about, I don't think we are as dysfunctional as I think we are :goodvibes

I saw two little ones yesterday being hauled through stores by their Mom's just screaming their heads off...major meltdowns...and that is certainly not dysfunctional, it just popped in my head about the 2 incidents...LOL..thinking oh my gosh, I'm glad mine our grown :thumbsup2 and that ain't me. Mine did their share of crying and acting up, believe me.

I was also pondering on the fact you wonder how YOU yourself stacked up as a parent. I wasn't the best, guess I wasn't the worst, just tried to do what I thought was good child rearing. But after watching my 2 grandson's (who can be little devils with the best of them and can run with the big boys with being bad :) ) they have been taught to mind their manners when they were visiting with family and such, so I guess what we tried to teach has rubbed off and is being passed on. I was certainly impressed with their please and thank you's and overall behavior. Now if that isn't a grandma talking, nothing is...........LOL........... :thumbsup2 I used to threaten both my kids with extinction and becoming the end of the family name line if they didn't shape up and behave. :p

Jules that is so cool. Im hoping to go at the end of May-first of June. We like the Star Wars weekends. So you will have to let us know where you will be.

Rave ~ I'm glad your parents are safe now.

Mom ~ I bet you were a great mom, and still are and an awesome grandmother too ::yes::

I didn't tell you about the cp because I just got my acceptance packet on Thursday ;). Since then I've been running around trying to figure out what to do. Paying off the fees buying a train ticket emailing my faculty contact (who btw still hasn't gotten back to me). I still need to settle things with my school for financial aid and credit. I'm so distracted since I got that letter, I'm having a hard time focusing for these last couple of weeks of classes not good :sad2:. On top of it all, my parents bought a house so I have to pack before the 15th Ha ha classes aren't even over until the 18th :p. I'll only be in their new house a month before I leave for FL. I'll be there from Jan 15th untill May 25th so yes, please come and visit. I'm doing housekeeping, but they don't tell you where until you get there.

Ok enough about me ::yes:: {sigh}

:sunny:
mac - like the way you think "fun" hmmm?:) thought I had the market cornered on off-kilter families (in-laws, out-laws, you name it). My mom sez i'm the most normal of the bunch, now that IS a scary thought:upsidedow

Anyone else burning up the 'net' shopping on-line? i'm sick of running to the stores & the big-tix items are gone. Nothing but a version of the old bait & switch IMO, limited quantites - ha. Best Buy had a really cheap laptop they advertised, called the store, they told me the 5 they had were all bought by the 1st guy in the store:furious: . Of course, not avail online either, oh well. Someday, i will learn.

deena - we'll just miss you, going the end of June. Our school district prohibits vacations in Sept & beginning in May until school is out, mid June. Guess too many people were abusing it. I think early May would be a great time to visit. We really liked it in Feb. too, got to escape our crappy cold winter.

How's the folks mac? Hope you all have a good Sunday.

Hi all, quick break from shaking my leg :teeth: actually, I have gotten stuff done...not enough, but its a work in progress

KS, I've done the brunt of my Christmas shopping online. Yesterday was for stuff I needed to hit the streets for...had enough of that crap though, it was like the Saturday before Christmas instead of 3 weeks out  It was just unbelieveable. I'm a firm believer in sitting right here and pressing submit. I hunt down free shipping and discounts, so sometimes I do just as well as running all over creation for stuff and fighting the crowds.

I am ready to do battle with one store I was at yesterday. I bought an outfit for my work party, and got a necklace and earrings which the lady put in a small separate bag which she supposedly put in with my sweater/slacks. Well, long story short, its not in there...so I called and actually got the same saleslady, and she made me feel like I was a liar and that SHE was right and I had to have lost it myself. She was saying "I do this and I do that, so you should have it, it isn't here". Well, I went directly to the car, didn't drop anything, that store is the only bag I had, its the only place I shopped. I've searched the car and its not there. I have to call back to speak to the manager after 3 p.m. If they won't do anything about it, I'm disputing the charge on my credit card. They are gonna make it right or else I'm gonna be the beach on wheels about it. It's costume jewelry, but I got in for like 50% off and I still spent 25 bucks on it, and I'm not eating that $25...grrr....that saleslady made me so mad....I know it was the same one that rang me up too. So much for customer service. If I have to, cause she ticked me off, I'll go to the district manager if the store manager continues to be unhelpful. I'm usually pretty agreeable, but when someone pushes me up against the wall, I'll fight them on it.

Jules, that is awesome about your tour of duty at the world. You will have an awesome time. I know some people that their son did it and also a lady I worked with at the Disney store, her daughter did an internship there and swam with the fishes at Epcot!! We went to see her when we were there and saw her in the tank! It was cool. Good for you, it will all fall into place. And congrats to your family on the new home, that is wonderful, although a tough time of year to have to move. Consider it a Christmas present to themselves I guess :goodvibes

haven't been able to play on the computer today at all.
after son got done doing his thing on it, i was tied up.

the red cross cw talked to me and said they are relocating my parents to another facility. they said i can make phone contact after 7 tonight.
had to go over things with red cross then call both brothers to advise them of what's happening.

going to church tonight.

catch you after i talk to folks and red cross this evening, and both brothers again.
one i like
one i don't know if i like at this point....
:teeth:

taking a break from the Steeler game, woo-hoo.

mic - IMO $25 is alotof bucks for costume jewelry. Whatever happened to the customer is always right?

mac -not too fond of any of my snotty extended relatives, not too keen on some of the immediate ones either
wink.gif
.

How I spent my afternoon shopping (caution, only read if bored out of mind):

Could tell DH really wanted the laptop (he never asks for a thing & unflinchingly shells out the bucks for the presents), so called a different Circuit City. They had 2 laptops left & said they'd hold 1 for me if I got there in an hour. Zoomed off down the pike, made it with 10 min. to spare. Waited in CS line, got to clerk a minute after the cut-off. She nastily told me they just sold the last one, since I was late. I then asked for the mgr (who conveniently was out to lunch lol). Dept mgr & I did battle. He couldn't find a single one anywhere in the tri-state area, nor was he willing to sell me the floor model, that had just gone on the shelf 3 hours prior.

He kept stating that the clerk wasn't authorized to hold a computer in the 1st place. My response was: then they needed to train their staff better. I pointedly refered to the "binding verbal contract" that the staff member had agreed to & insisted that if they didn't have the model, weren't issuing rainchecks, & didn't expect anymore in from manufactuer; they should sell it to me. He didn't agree. I calmly told him I had nothing better to do & would wait all day for the Manager if I had to. After disappearing into the back room for 5 minutes, the sale was a done deal.:cool1: Later as he was running my card thru, he confessed he just was tired of dealing with me and all the other customers clamoring for the same item sitting on display, I was a blessing in disguise to take the offending laptop...absolutely ridiculous:rolleyes: .

MERRY MONDAY !!

Wake up people.....it's time to start the week!!! :cool1:

Good luck today OCM......
Hope things are better with the family Mac......

:cool1: 90% of my Christmas shopping is DONE.... :thumbsup2

Merry Monday to you too Tony  Monday all...

more later, gotta scoot........

KS, I'll share my jewelry issue later too and mac....big :grouphug:

Good morning everyone. Hope all is well with you this Monday morning.

Mac, please give an update on your parents. You and they have been in my prayers. :grouphug:

Hope everybody has a great day.

Morning:sunny: 19 degrees in gloomy PIT, hope Ed's enjoying great weather. Looks like poor mac's going to get more snow.

tvt - few men have much Xmas shopping done before Dec. 24th, you are ahead of the curve my man.:thumbsup2

mic - yes, do post the jewelry saga.

miz - when we were buying a disp. camera from a cart on Main st. last Oct., the CM looked very familiar. I looked down @ her nametag & here she was a friend of my middle DS (glad they started putting hometowns back on the tags). Was in the middle of her internship. She said she was assigned as a floater to work anywhere in the Main St area. As she wasn't a WDW fan to begin with (and a bit of a princess in her own right;) ); the match wasn't a good fit. IMO, it'd be a dream job.

Morning Everyone

Ed - I hope you are having a great time. We miss you

Keisha - I would have been mad too. How dare they trell you they willput it away and have you drive all the way there to tell you they don't have it. I would have had a fit too.

Mic - i agree, dispute the charges. Don't you hate it when people don't beleive you. It could be as simple as telling someone that potato peels can't go in the garbage disposal to as big as having someone tell you that you are lying about your items. I would be infuriated if I were you.

Bob - Did you end up going to the Black Tie Christmas Party. I love going to those.

Pam - I'm feeling you with the computer. I never get a chance to lock myself in the guest room to get online.

Mac - your family will continue to be in my prayers. I am hoping for the best for you all.

Deena - I am so sorry about Connors ear!! Your poor baby. How long was the Scooby Doo show?

Tony - thanks for the good luck today. I just hope I can hold my ground on this. I am in the right, but she is really hard for me to stand up to. How was your visit with Diane yesterday. She is such a great person!! Hope you had fun.

Jules - glad to see you stop by!! That is awesome news about Disney. I hope you have a great time down there!!

Gant - sorry about your football team!! I know the feeling Atlanta beat the Redskins yesterday. I'm just glad I don't have to go to work anywhere and face any Falcon Fans.

good morning everyone.

thanks for the coffee mr robot......it's putting the spring back into my sprung

my parents are in their late 80's and were moved to another shelter.
they had to sign up this morning for another night there.
right now they are in a fairgrounds building. looks like a warehouse, concrete floor but it is warm. also, the red cross can take care of my dad and mom's medicine for them.

power company says no idea when the power will be restored for their area, could be another 5 days. i am praying it is sooner.

ju ju, housekeeping is good. many people tip fine especially if you make towel animals. crossing my fingers you get in the deluxe hotels and make a lot of tip money. :thumbsup2

I actually heard that CPers aren't allowed to take tips. Don't know if that's true or not (and don't know why if it is), but that would explain why housekeeping never took the tips we left (even when we put them in a "housekeeping" envelope), the first time I went to Disney. Oh well I picked it for the ability to talk to myself without being looked at weird ;) , not for the tips (although those would be nice too :teeth: )

Morning all!!

I have to get to school a little early this morning since i didn't go on Saturday, procrastinating is not a good thing :sad2: .

Have a good day everyone!

Morning all :)

Yep, Nicole got home around 11am on Saturday. We did end up going to the Christmas party, which was nice. Good food, lots of drinks, etc. :thumbsup2

Sunday was nice as well -- Breakfast with Santa went well, aside from the fact that it was at 8 in the morning (and we got home after midnight). :surfweb: :surfweb:
