The weatherman this a.m. said that there is an El Nino brewing and we could have a mild winter. :sunny:

I'll take a mild winter :cool1: Too early for the white stuff KS...keep it up in PA.... ;)

Muffy, I'm so sorry to hear the news about your sister. Thoughts and prayers are with her and you and your family. I hope things get better. I know how hard it is to deal with cancer...hugs my friend :grouphug: If you need to vent or just talk, we all are here for you.

Off to watch Survivor, I'll drop back by in a bit :wave2:

How did Rosie get away with this?

Radical Christianity is as dangerous as Radical Islam.

View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck was defending the proactive strategy followed by the Bush administration in removing the Taliban government in Afghanistan and toppling Saddam Hussein in Iraq.

"I mean, it's been five years, we have not been attacked," Hasselbeck said. "We're also in a- We're on the on the offense here. We have to be, because we were attacked five years ago."

O'Donnell interrupted.

"One second, We were attacked, not by a nation," O'Donnell argued. "And as a result of the attack and the killing of nearly 3,000 innocent people we invaded two countries and killed innocent people in their countries."

Hasselbeck continued, arguing that she believed the U.S. was not attacking the countries, but the Islamo-fascist beliefs of those who support and carry out terrorism against the U.S. and its allies.

"But do you understand that that the belief funding those attacks, okay, that is wide spread?" Hasselbeck asked O'Donnell. "And if you take radical Islam and you want to talk about what's going on there, you have to..."

But O'Donnell interrupted, again, before Hasselbeck could finish her comment.

"And just one second," O'Donnell said. "Radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America where we have a separation of church and state. We're a democracy here."

Hasselbeck seemed shocked by the comparison.

"Hang on," Hasselbeck interrupted. "We are not bombing ourselves here in the country. We are being attacked."

"No," replied O'Donnell. "But we are bombing innocent people in other countries. True or false?"

View co-host Joy Behar had been supportive of O'Donnell's comments, earlier in the program, criticizing the Bush administration's response to Hurricane Katrina. But O'Donnell's attacks on Christians were, apparently, too much for Behar.

"But, but Christians are not threatening to kill us. There's that difference," Behar said. "This group [radical Islamists] is threatening to kill us."

Later in the show, O'Donnell indirectly accused the White House of fear-mongering regarding the potential for a future terrorist attack against the U.S.

"But in life, you have two choices always, faith or fear," O'Donnell said. "A government should lead by faith, never by fear."

"I think we are leading by faith," Hasselbeck responded.

"How about rationality?" Behar asked. "What happened to that?"

O'Donnell then dropped the adjective "radical" when referring to the Christians with whom she disagrees.

"And faith is not Christianity," O'Donnell stressed, "faith in humanity, faith in equality."

Morning all

Summer is over and Mac is back at work!

We need the lottery so we can have Summer year-round! :teeth:

Pam- Aubrey's birthday party sounds like fun.
Good luck with the ear piercing!
Can she get a belly piercing at the same time? :rotfl:

Have a great weekend everyone! :sunny:

mac - who cleans the house when they stay home? That's why Al Gore invented the internet:surfweb: . Better chop, chop on the packing!

Muffy - so sad for your sister, nice to hear she has her family's love & support, will pray for her complete recovery:wizard:

Don't watch The View, I can get my fill of cackling hens on the DIS board
wink.gif
. Did read that Eliz. is a staunch republican, attends GOP conventions & strong right to life activist. Rosie is rosie I suppose, well intentioned & lot's of issues; they had a sound clip on the radio the other day...babbled like Little Richard does on Celebrity Duet program. I predict fireworks & better ratings for the show.

Pam - my middle son played Sax for a few years (then switched to electric guitar)...to my dismay their section's motto was: "I need more Sax education".

mic - I watched my very 1st episode of Survivor...not sure if I'm a convert or not. The whole ethnic grouping type would seem to sterotype as opposed to educate IMO, hope I'm proved wrong.

ed - off to read your controversial postingpopcorn::

Good morning all. Ed, you crack me up. Muffycat, :grouphug: Your sister is in my prayers. That freakin disease sucks. Tell her to hang in there. One of my coworkers, that is very dear to my heart, just told me on Monday that she has been declared cancer free after years of treatment. :cool1:

I hope you all have a great day.

Bob- you did a good job on that working mother thread! :thumbsup2

Thanks :teeth:

Sorry to hear about your sister. :( She'll be in my prayers. As someone with first hand knowledge of it, I always have to say Cancer Sucks. :badpc: :guilty: Hopefully she'll have a full recovery. :thumbsup2

Sorry about the Rosie post sometimes things make me screatch my head, if she had gone off on another religous group she would have been kicked off the air, but enough of that.

Good Morning everybody.
MuffyCat sorry to hear about your sister she will be in my prayers.

Morning Everyone I guess Im late with the shout out.

Now, I have news. Don't fall out of your seats while reading this, but guess what I did last night. I actaully mowed the lawn..front and back!!! My hands are still red and they really hurt, but I did it. Want to know what my oh so useful hubby was doing while I mowed, yes, he was grilling himself a steak dinner.

I had such an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment after I did it though. Aside from the neighbors slowing down their cars to watch me and two were walking and asked me where my husband was. I didn't know what to say except that he was grilling his dinner. So, it was a little embarrassing, but that is my life.

Now, onto the shout out

Mac - I agree 200% school sucks!!

Muffy - im so sorry to hear about the cancer

Bob - I'll have to go read the working woman thread

Ed - I think the sax and violens it really what keeps this thread interesting. I love the fact that we move to our own beat

Gantor - that is great news about your coworker

Mic - I agree, its too early to talk about the white stuff. Oh wait..I don;'t get any here :joker:

Deena - what did you think about the Survivior..were you suprised at who got kicked off?

Pam - the tea party sounds great. I'll Pm you about the "other" bdays coming up.

ocm - perhaps you should have have charged admission;) darn nosy neighbors...any offers to cut it next time? My sage advice is to wear closed toe shoes & long pants to avoid getting hit with debris. Don't forget to clean out under the mower/blade later once it's cooled down. Isn't it :cool1: to know what a strong, capable chick can accomplish?:flower3:

Morning all!

ocm-- I know what you mean about the acomplishment...that is why we do alot of the stuff here ourselves...not only does it save us $$ to do it ourselves but when we see what we have done we know we did it! I was going to tell you....about the tape peeling the paint off...just go and get you a little paint brush...even those little brushes that kids use to waterpaint will work and go touch it up. My paint has peeled like that before and that is what i did and now you can't even tell.

ed--that's okay....we all ramble on  :teeth:

mac--just look at it this way....more money for your vacation!!

mic--looks like the yanks and the soxs play again...you'll have to keep me posted who wins...i don't think i will be able to watch it!

muffy--i'm up for having that kind of lottery!!

ks--hopefully my ds don't think that way! I was asking him last night what girls he talks to in school...the little turkey just laughed and told me it was NONE OF MY BUSINESS! :stir:

gant--you are such a nice guy to bring mac coffee all the time! What would she do without you?!?!

bob--how's your soccer team doing?

when is tony coming home?
