I forgot to tell you........

Last weekend I got a call from my sister saying that my BIL broke the small bone(not sure what it is called) in his leg. He had an appt. with the specialist yesterday and has to have surgery today! They have to go in and put some screws in right above his ankle so it bone heals right. He broke it by wrestling around with his little(not so little) brother! I guess some kids just don't learn!!

Ouch!!

My dad has screws and pins in his leg (fibula, I believe) and his ankle, from separate work-related accidents. After he broke his arm last week, he told me he felt fortunate that at least they didn't have to do surgery for that as well -- he already beeps when he goes through metal detectors. :blush:

I bet...you know...it seems like the older people get they have to put pins and screws in...do you think it is because their bones tend not to heal as fast?

My MIL beeps when she goes through...she has a pass though...she had a hip replacement a few years back and i guess they sent her something stating that she has a metal hip! :rolleyes:

I think there's a lot of reasons -- in my Dad's case, though, it was how he broke his leg (he shattered it), not so much his age. I was like 6 when his accident happened (he was buried under 6 feet of dirt in a sewer ditch -- I forget if I mentioned that), so he would have been 32 at the time.

OH WOW!!!!! He is lucky that all he got was a broken leg!!! My mom seems to break something and next thing you know she has to get pin or a screw put in!

just got back from the doctor. so glad to be back home.

so , who here has a screw loose???

i got the metal in my shoulder, can i join the club??

i must have forgot about the cruise ks mentioned. once i think about it, i do remember it.
a cruise is something i have not had the interest in. my gay cousin wants me to do a cruise with him and his partner.

its not my thing to go on a gay cruise..........

I had never done a cruise and was fortunate enough when working for Disney to do the Disney Cruise....most enjoyable...LOVED it...but not sure I'd be a big fan of cruising on a regular basis...although I would do Disney again...

today....they worked and I love YOU ALL SO MUCH for sending those vibes...

DH applied for a job with our town and got it!! So good bye to all the headaches and worries about his current status with his plant closing etc....he was definitely outta there in June, so we were beginning to worry about what he was going to do..........which would have been something, but can you believe right in our own backyard??? And me with hardly any travel time..........I'm so thankful (I've been praying hard... :angel:

and mac has had my back too on Sunday's) that both of us have found something close to home that is decent. Heck, he can walk to work!! Now we just have to get all his retirement stuff in place and get paid what they owe him for early outting and all that......it's what he wanted, so I'm very happy for him. 35 yrs. in one job and he wasn't relishing looking for work after being so settled for all these years. Again, I thank each of you for listening to my whining back in the winter and for keeping us in your hearts! You guys rock!! May not be big news for anyone but us...

but we are relieved and happy that all the worry is behind us for the time being. Sometimes its the timing and for both of us, the moon and the stars must have lined up just right. Oh, its with the water department so he will be getting some schooling and training too....never too old to teach a dog new tricks I guess...... :sunny:

Now, back to our scheduled fun..........broken bones, hot babysitters, and WHO DOESN'T LOVE THE BEACH??????????????? I'd trade places with you in 1/2 heartbeat............but don't let your family coerce you into staying extra days if you don't want...do what is best for you and the kids.... :grouphug:
