Terrible Experience -POR RIV

I'm sorry you had so much aggravation with the key cards, but what was done for you sounds substantial to me - 2 rooms upgraded for free from POR to the Beach Club for a long stay (am I remembering right that you said 10 nights?) is worth quite a bit of money. I'm glad the manager at POR came through for you in that way.

I can relate to the keys fiasco. I had to go back and forth to the Pop front desk one night 3 times. I was livid but remained calm. We were out of our room for 2 1/2 hours. Maintenance had to come and put a new battery in our lock. I did ask for and recieved compensation.

Sorry you had such a bad time! We had none of these experiences when we stayed in June. Better luck next time! :sunny:

Were you carrying anything near your key cards---like your cell phone or other credit cards? Were the key cards/ passes being put into your wallet? My mom always does this and always de-magnetizes her keys. I carry mine separate from my phone and other credit cards and don't have the problem w/ them becoming blank. Please don't flame me....just wondering if that had anything to do with the problem because that happens to my mom on our trips. I keep our key cards completely separate in my pocket. :wizard:

No, we weren't carrying anything beside our key cards. The front desk suggested this the first time the keys didn't work. After having it happen a couple of times, all key cards were in separate paper envelopes and were carried separately. We couldn't demagnetize 27 cards or keys that were carried in our hands straight from the front desk to the room.

Yes, we stayed at the Beach Club for 7 nights and were upgraded for "free" However, I am going through my bank statement/papers and I am not sure it was free yet. There are numerous charges, refunds......etc..........

The manager that came through for me gave me passes that didn't work.
We did have a good time at the Beach Club after the initial problems there.
Everything was going well until they lost the things I bought at Downtown Disney. And they blamed me for it..................... Ha Ha Ha

If I go back I will consider getting the passes separately and staying at the Dolphin. Thanks for the suggestions.

When I go in April I think I'll just ***** till I get a free upgrade. I love the BC. You are very luck for what you got.

Very funny mickman1962. The Beach Club has messed up the charges on my Visa card so badly that I have PAID for Port Orleans, PAID for the Beach Club, and there are still extra charges that shouldn't be there. This will take more aggravation and my time to sort out.

This was the worst hotel stay I have ever had in any hotel,Disney or non-Disney. I found the staff unprofessional and unknowledgable. Some highlights of my stay include:

- taking over 1 hour checking in (no line up) because I had a continuing reservation bc you need two reservations if you are staying more than 10 nights
- finding out that even though I called and confirm my reservations that I only had 1 room for the whole stay and the other room they say I only booked for half the stay
- my 4 year old daughter finding cracker crumbs, lego, and a prescription pill under the bed that she thought was candy (staff didn't care)
- unfriendly housekeeping staff
- when my first reservation was up I was told to throw away our first key to the world cards because we would be issued new ones, found out later that these were our passes and we couldn't get into parks
- issued new cards which also didn't work and key cards which didn't open our rooms
- charging privileges didn't work all the time
- wasting alot of my time standing in lines with guest relations, front desk staff
- our room was far from the main building

I will never go to a moderate disney hotel again. Also considering not returning to a Deluxe.

we stay there fairly frequently, never had a bad experience, i cant explain the reservations, but is it possible they just didnt sweep well enough under the bed? although the not caring staff is a little odd. with the room keys- some times it is not on the key, most of the time actually. how was the staff supposed to know? and it is coomon for the keycards to demagnetize in your wallet, i have had it happen before. with your room being far- you knew what you were booking when you chose to stay there, would you rather they stick another family there so YOU could be closer to the main building? it is luck of the draw unless you pay for an upgrade.

I hate to hear you had a bad experience DH and I are thinking of upgrading from ASMu to POR for our trip in May.....

Yeah, don't let this bother you. The manager said that they have 3000 rooms. They can't possibly mess up all those reservations. :)

It is possible that they never look under the beds, never mind clean under them.

As I said before, we couldn't possible demagnetize 27 cards.

I don't know what you mean by saying "it is not on the key, most of the time actually. how was the staff supposed to know?"

sorry about my horribly misspelled and sort of harsh post. anyway, alot of the time the park passes are not on the keys, i depends on where you get the ticket, and what kind.

My DH and I just returned from POR last night. This was our fourth stay there in five years. I do have to say that the mousekeeping has gone downhill a bit, at least in our room. We were in Acadian 8067, water view. Room was not as clean as in the past. Shelf above cushioned bench had visible dust on it and had obvioulsy not been touched in quite a while. Bed was made sloppily so that sheets were hanging to floor on one side of bed and bed skirt was tucked up so that plywood and base of bed were visible as you walked into the room. Mousekeeping did not clean coffee pot and/or bring us coffee two of our seven days there. I just it was not as nice as it has been in the past.

They seemed to be having a problem with coffee at food court also. A few mornings one side of food court was out of coffee and one machine was totally out of order. The food was great, however!!

That said, we still love POR and we are starting to plan our trip back there in December 2006!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I'm so sorry you have had such bad experiences. I've been pretty lucky (so far at least!!). I have never had an issue at POR. Only one time have I had a 'not so nice' CM who suggested that my dd, then 6, take better care of her room key/park pass so it didn't have to be replaced a second time!!!
When we were at BWV in Nov '04, we had to try 3 different rooms before they found one that wasn't occupied. The manager actually gave us a $100 credit on our account. I did keep telling him it wasn't necessary but it still appeared and he did send a CM with a car to drive us to our THanksgiving dinner at CM since we would have been late due to the room mixups.
Then at BCV last June, they seemed to be having a bus issue. We had waited about 30 minutes for the bus to MK in the morning...around 9:30 or so. A BC CM came out and gave those of us who had been waiting a pass for any ride in MK for any time during that day..kinda like a FP but with no stipulations.
So far, we have been very lucky I guess to have any issues rectified promptly. Evidently that isn't always the case.

Back to the pill situation... I'm concerned that so many people are finding pills on the floor of their room. This happened to us last year at POFQ as well. My then 18-month-old son found it - thank goodness I happened to be looking directly at him at that exact moment so I could take it away from him. I did not mention it to any CM's (in hindsight I should have) and just chalked it up to a freaky occurrance.

BUT - it seems to be a big and potentially dangerous problem based on all of the threads that I've been reading lately! First, what is with all of these people dropping their expensive medications on the floor and not picking them up? I know I would! Second, I always assumed that the rooms did not get vacuumed by mousekeeping during our stay, but you'd think that they would do it between guests at the very least.

I know there was recently a thread about this so I'm not trying to re-create what's out there, I'm mainly responding to this in case anyone at Disney is reading... this is a serious potential liability and should be addressed!

I am worried about this - we are going down in a couple weeks - we are staying at POR to avoid Pop Warner at the Value (I know there will still be SOME at POR) and because we like the resort for theming, etc. Our family's experience there has not been good overall. We have found Mousekeeping to be very poor there. We have never had a room where the area under the bed was actually clean or close to it. I guess we all just have to learn from these experiences and learn to always check under beds where little ones are involved. I am keeping my fingers crossed that our experience will be better this time.

:wizard:

If I have ever been in a room upon check in and the room was not up to par I simply walked over to the phone and told them I needed housekeeping along with a vaccum immediately as the room was in a mess. (This has only happened 2 times over many years). They have always come up and cleaned and asked if there was anything else needed. I thanked them and all was well.

:sunny: This past time (Sept)at POFQ our room as great and no dust etc. Bld 3.

I am surprised that they had so many problems fixing your keys, they have always been amazing and quick at other resorts (OKW, WL) when we have had a problem with keys or passes.

We always get our passes separate from room keys, because of the ease with which they seem to get demagnetized/erased/whatever. We always keep our room keys in the protective paper/cardboard they come in, and keep our passes this way also except when in the park, when it becomes a hassle. Of course one pass got demagnetized during our last trip (probably from just being with the other passes-- nothing else was in the wallet section with them), but the concierge/help desk cm fellow at OKW was super helpful and fixed the problem in no time.

Tip for those that don't already know: always keep your passes/room receipt with you, it eases the fixing of problems.
