Hey All!! Almost forgot to report back about our experience with Terra Verde! We rented a 4 Bdr town home that was on the lake. We were right next to the footbridge to the Clubhouse, pool and tiki bar. We had a nice size pool at our unit, too. I wouldn't call it a splash pool - it was quite sizeable. The town home we stayed in was really nice, well cared for, had everything we could want. The "commute" to Disney wasn't bad - I was surprised. We learned a few tips after the first two days - go to Disney in the morning by the local roads - Rte 535 to Rte 536. In the afternoon take I4 to 192. In the evening leaving the parks the traffic was heavy coming out of the main roads and we found I4 to be the easiest at those times.
The big question is did I like Terra Verde...I am a huge Disney resort snob (I have no problem admitting it!). I have stayed at WL Club a few times, Beach club, Poly... BUT by the 2nd day I was surprised to hear myself saying - I really like this. By the fourth day I was ready to buy. The last full day we were there my Dad and I went to see the Realtor! I called my husband and told him - you told me not to book a cruise while on Spring Break (ahem, did that two years ago) but you didn't tell me not to buy a house... He was completely against it. Now that I have been back and showed him the pictures of the community and we have all talked about it - we are in the process of buying a home there!! We are just in the beginning stages of it all but there are a few properties we are interested in...
So - in the end - you will not be disappointed. I still did my usual style of touring - going to one park in the AM, coming back in the afternoon and then going to a different park in the evening. We also had dining reservations in the resorts or parks. I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything and it was really nice to come back and relax in a home with our own pool. And if you want that resort pool/tiki bar - you get that too. The community was really taken card of well and I have since learned that the HOA fees are really high and they use them well! They are serious about the guard gate - it's manned 24/7!! You need a card to open the gate and even if there is a car in front of you going in - they will still stop and ask to see your card and most of the time still tap it to the sensor to make sure the card is valid.
You will not be disappointed with the community!!
Any questions about the community or commute don't hesitate to PM me...
Have fun!!
