I see many people rave about this restaurant. We have quite a few Japanese hibachi restaurants here that cook in a fun way at the table. I'm wondering is this still worth doing at Disney? Or is no different than anywhere else?

It's no different than anywhere else, but the theming is sensational, the food is delicious and it's a great value both on the dining plan and paying OOP.

It's one of our favorites at EPCOT. Food reviews are very subjective, but I'd say it's our favorite in the park, alongside Rose &Crown. However, many would argue for Chefs or Biergarten. Both are very good, but we didn't enjoy them enough to return again next year.

We've eaten there on our trip before last. The food is very good and the chef was funny and entertaining.
That said, we have a hibachi restaurant near our home that we just like a little better. Which is why we will spend our dinners at WS eating at other places (Chefs de France is our favorite).
All in all, I'm glad we ate there once to give it a try.

We usually go here each time we are at WDW but the last few times they've treated us really poorly in regards to our daughter and so we will never return. Sad as it was one of my meals I looked forward to.

We had a good meal there, BUT it was not as good as our hibachi style places we have at home. It wasn't bad at all. We tried it, we enjoyed it, but there are many other places we would rather go to instead.

If you don't mind can you elaborate? We have reservations there in August because we thought our boys (13 and 8) will love the atmosphere. Our 13 is on the spectrum along with some other issues and this has me concerned. TIA

we are going to try it for the first time in may. we love hibachi and both kids actually like it too which is a rarity these days so we're going for it.

Its really no different than other hibachi places. Since you've done this before I'd go with a different experience at WDW.

While it's just like any other Japanese steakhouse where they cook at the table and do a little "show" I thought the food was actually above average (or at least compared to our local place). We don't go often as they don't take the TIW card tho. But we did enjoy it.

As others have said, it's no different than your local hibachi place. It is good, and I'd do it if it's something I really liked.

I am going to disagree that it is no different than a local hibachi place. Our local places do performances with lots of fire - big bursts of fire. Teppan Edo doesn't use fire in their demonstrations, so you get the little "tricks" - egg roll, knife tricks, etc. The menu is also different. All of our local places serve fried rice as the starch, while TE is udon noodles. There is some kind of rice, if I remember correctly, but it isn't fried rice, and it isn't prepared and served like the local places.

I'm not saying any of this is bad - it is just unexpected if you have been to a number of hibachi places that are just alike.

Was there about 3 weeks ago and loved it. It was my family of 4 and 3 others from Connecticut that shared our grill with us.

You can say "it is just like......." for almost every Disney restaurant. Buffets are Buffets, fish n chips is the same regardless of where it is served, Italian food is Italian food etc. Out of our 9 table service meals this last trip, Tepan Edo was a top 3.

I agree with these observations. And for exactly these differences Teppan Edo often gets negative reviews. Fried rice is Chinese not Japanese. Teppan Edo is authentic. They serve beef rice. White rice is available.
Teppan Edo is way better than our local Japanese steakhouse and we enjoy it.

If you have a Japanese hibachi place you like at home, you'd be OK skipping it.
Totally agree with this. You will most likely spend less and get many more options at your local hibachi than at Epcot. That said, it is WDW and prices are going to be higher but as far as the food goes it really is no different what so ever.

I have eaten at Teppan Edo a couple of times. I've never really been wowed. The local place at home (Miyabi) is far superior. It wasn't bad; it just wasn't worth my vacation time with so many other choices. If you don't have a Japanese hibachi restaurant at home, it would definitely be a fun splurge. On a totally unrelated note, I love Tokyo Dining, but it's not a particularly entertaining meal.

I had an interesting meal at Teppan Edo - there were 3 (off-duty) cast members at the table with me and a family with a toddler. The chef asked the parents if he could cut their child's food smaller for them, they were very happy he offered and he took so much care in preparing tiny cuts of meat for the child. The cast members raved about this specific chef and I agree, he was amazing. So, yes, it's just like any other Japanese steakhouse experience but if your chef is the same man we had then you won't be disappointed.

As a former Orlando resident - no. Not worth doing. Kobe Japanese Steakhouse is an Orlando hibachi chain that is MUCH MUCH better, and there are locations close to Disney. It's worth a quick cab or uber ride.

I enjoyed this restaurant but I don't think it is really worth it. The food was really good and so was the chef but there are plenty of hibachi places around so it is not like you are missing out if you have been to another one. This one is not much different than any other hibachi restaurant that I have gone to in the past.

HI there sorry I was busy yesterday didn't jump online.

My daughter has needs and can't sit in a standard high chair. 1st time we asked for her to sit in her stroller at the table and they said no. So we had to sit with her in our lap and take turns eating. You could tell they were annoyed. This year we thought it'd be different and asked for a table to accommodate her stroller. We were told to wait 30 mins even though we had ADR. We waited about 10 mins before they paged us.

We got to the table and they said we were not allowed to have her stay in her stroller. When I argued about it they offered to let us push her in the stroller against the wall. Away from us and just to sit in the corner alone I was super offended and caused a scene. The reason was they wanted to squeeze another party into our table and said my daughter was taking up a space.

So personally any place that had 3-4 different employees tell me they were OK with me leaving my child in the corner while I ate was not a place I'll return to and give my $ to.
