On me and my DBF first full day (which is also my DBF birthday) we are going to Teppan Edo to celebrate. We booked this months ago as I have always wanted to go there but never had the chance and he loves Japanese food.
I have seen the odd photo around and thought that the food didn't look the most exciting. I have just looked over the menu and cant believe the prices compared to the photos I have seen. Part of me is wondering whether it is worth it and I am hoping that someone can give me their HO on it as a want to make sure that he has a great night.

Thanks for any replies.

We thought Teppan Edo was a great value. Most of the Hibachi places around here (Chicago) are much more expensive.

The food was very good and very fresh. The chef was great. :thumbsup2

Be aware that you will probably be seated with other people since the tables hold 8. We thought this was fun but we are a family of 6. Not sure what the couple on their honeymoon thought of US though :rolleyes1

Hope you have a great night out for DBF's bday-whatever you decide!

We love Teppan Edo. The food is always good and the Chef's are entertaining.

Ha ha! We were that honeymoon couple last year (not with your family, but with someone's :) ). It was pretty entertaining, actually!

The "show" that the server does is pretty cool at Teppan Edo....especially if you have a very expressive and interactive cook. I must admit, we didn't get as much food as I had hoped to, but what we did get was really good! Oh, and we got free dessert because we were on our honeymoon.

My DH doesn't like Japanese food, and he really enjoyed Teppan Edo . Go and have fun!

My DH loved Teppan Edo. I hated sitting with others. We had a family of 5 with bratty teenagers being picky about the menu and throwing a fit and the parents arguing with them. Not fun for us, but luckily there was an empty seat on the long side, so my DH had more elbow room on the left. If there had been someone sitting there that would have been uncomfortably close. The food was great. We had the dining plan so price didnt matter. It was entertaining to see.

Did you think it was good value for money for what you got?

Only you can decide if it is "worth" it to you or not. All Disney restaurants are expensive and many would argue that none are "worth" it. Epcot restaurants are expensive.
For us Teppan Edo is a nice meal in a nice restaurant. We have been satisfied with the portion size, as I think that is what you are questioning, based on your stating you saw pictures that left you wondering. We have enjoyed the entertainment provided by the chef and for us it is a must do each trip.
Do you know you will be seated at tables for 8, with other diners if your party is less than 8? We have met some nice folks this way, but not everyone likes this.
Good Luck in your decision.

we love teppan edo too! food is very good, and let's face it.... any other restaurant at disney is just as expensive. splurge a little.

Thanks for the response guys! Think we are going to give it a go. Im actually looking forward to sitting an a table with other people, should be entertaining!

We loved Tepan Edo, when we went last Sept. The chef was very entertaining, even with a young crowd. It was such a hit we booked it again for this trip Sept 2010. I think that you and your boyfriend will love the experience. That is what Disney is all about, new experiences!!

I've lost track of how many times we've been to Teppan Edo, but it is now a must for at least once every trip. The quality of the food has always been excellent, we've had wonderful experiences with the chefs and staff, and while the "sitting with others" thing has been hit or miss, it hasn't ever made us regret eating there.

Enjoy!

I love hibatchi style cooking. Here in NJ, it's always expensive for not a lot of food but very good food. Same goes for disney. Although it doesn't look like much, you are STUFFED after you leave. I always start with a salad or some sushi too. I always eat here when in disney!!!

We absolutely love Teppan Edo and felt the food was delicious, the service was fun and entertaining and the value was great. :)

DH and I went to Teppan Edo last year on our Anniversary Trip. Taking the kids and DMIL there this year. DD does not eat meat so I wish they had a meatless option, but the food was really good. (We will order DD chicken as she sometimes will eat a bite or two of it) Our chef was very entertaining and funny. We sat with another couple and a family of four. It seemed okay. Hopefully my kids won't be the bratty kids that PP have mentioned earlier in the post. If they are, I apologize for beating them at the table.:lmao:
