I've studied the menus on AllEars, but I'm having a difficult time deciding between these 2 restaurants. Can you folks help me out? Which one would you pick & why?

Thank you,
Shelli

I personally would go to Teppan Edo. I like that they cook infront of you and it just seems like it would be alot more fun. Also it seems that they have alot of sushi at Toyko Dining and that is something that just don't interest my family.

Tokyo Dining is always our pick. We love Japanese food, but we don't like the possibility of sitting with strangers and we enjoy a quiet dinner. Tokyo Dining delivers that!

Its a favorite of ours. I love the shrimp tempura, my son can get his sushi (none of the rest of us eat this but he says its the best he's eaten) and we LOVE the atmosphere. In my opinion, Tokyo Dining delivers the best cultural experience in the World Showcase. The servers really go out of their way to give you a taste of Japanese cultural and ritual and its a very relaxed and enjoyable meal. It also has stellar views of the World Showcase, if you get a window or near the window you can watch Illuminations (but that's a gamble since you might not get near the window).

Frankly, a Disney trip delivers so much stimulation and hoopla, we enjoy a meal that doesn't have entertainment. Tokyo Dining has a varied menu, sushi is just one part of it. Other than my son, none of us eat sushi so if it didn't have other options we would not eat there!

I booked TD for our first night at WDW in October and we can't wait. I know Tepan Edo is a favorite around here, that's just not a style of dining we personally enjoy. We walk by it on our way to the restroom since it and TD are in the same building, and I am always so glad to return back to the Tokyo Dining area! I had a friend who went to Tepan recently and said her kids loved seeing their food cooked and the show type atmosphere but that she and her husband were miserable partly because it was hot and steamy since you are right at the steam table.

We've never done Tokyo Dining but we LOVE Teppan Edo. :lovestruc We went there for the first time last year and we're going again this year. It's a neat space. The food is good as well as the "show." We are sushi lovers as well and would probably like Tokyo Dining but Teppan Edo is fun for the entire family. You can order sushi there as well and watch the women making the sushi which is pretty cool. It's a great evening at WDW. Have a blast whichever you choose!!

I wanted to go to Tokyo Dining last year, but my husband wasn't as comfortable with Japanese food as he is now. So we went to Teppan Edo. We enjoyed ourselves, but my husband has said while the food was good, he'd rather not go back. Because it was just the two of us we were seated with another group, luckily they were from the area near where I grew up, and were Phillies fans. I guess if you end up seated with people who bug you, it could be bad.

The food was good, but fairly standard as far as hibachi. I tried the Green Tea pudding, because I didn't know where else I might try it, and I liked it. There is another hibachi place just a few minutes away from us here at home. We had never been prior to the trip last year, but ventured to it for our anniversary this year. I liked it better than Teppan Edo, there was not as much show, but the food was better. My very steak picky husband, loved the steak, his steak at Teppan Edo, not as much.

Thanks everyone!

It looks like there are a few hibachi-style entrees on the menu at Tokyo Dining. Is that true? We have one picky eater in our group & I want to make sure there will be something for him to eat.

I had the same question Shelli 5! Has anyone used the dining plan for dinner at Tokyo Diner? I love sushi, but I want to make sure it's not considered an appetizer. Thanks for any help!

Yes, we have used the DDP at Tokyo Dining and my son ordered the sushi and it was just a regular meal credit and not an appetizer that wasn't covered.
