We do not have the dining plan we are paying out of pocket. If we order a steak and shrimp dinner at Teppan Edo can two adults share that meal? Will they allow meal sharing there ? Thx

My DS ordered just plain noodles - they were fine with that. They didn't charge him much, either. I'm sure they would be fine with you two sharing. You don't get a lot of noodles with it so you may want to order a side of noodles with it.

110% yes, Free country. No one can stop you from meal sharing. Anywhere anytime. period.
We have shared out of pocket..the dining plan and all. Its something that no one can stop you from doing. period. Some folks may not like it..but that doesn't matter. You CAN do it.

Sure they can. A restaurant can absolutely have a policy requiring each guest to order an entree. Free country.
Have to disagree. If someone isnt hungry...you cant be forced to order. Never
If one family member isn't feeling well or whatever, they can sit there and watch the rest of the family eat or...pick from another plate. policy isn't law. I guarantee you. If any family member doesn't want to order...there is nothing any restaurant anywhere can legally tell that person they have to order. That would be an attorneys easiest case. too many medical reasons...for that person to obstain from eating...or religious..
And i can assure you..everyday at every restaurant on Disney property or not..people share a meal. Nothing will stop that. We have done it every trip. And always will.

Restaurant can't make someone eat, but absolutely can require each patron to order an entree.

Buffets require each person entering to pay whatever the charge is, no matter whether someone eats or not. Or at least pay for one.

All you care to eat restaurants (example: Garden Grill) absolutely require each person to, effectivly, order. Again, they won't force you to eat but they will charge you for the meal.

Keeping with the Disney topic, Wilderness Lodge will charge each person who eats from the skillet. Sure, you can share - but you can't pay for just one skillet for two people.

Our son has mild food allergies. We have not had to pay for him to eat at Garden Grill. Disney may have a policy that you have to pay to “enter” or such. But that is easily been adverted. It doesn’t happen often as we usually eat at QS or CS. And this is not even an issue. But when one of us 4 didn’t want to eat where we went. We only paid for 3 not 4. There may be a policy. But there is always an exception.

This is so unusual it has to be considered by anybody else reading this thread to be a one-off anomolous exception.

Guests with feeding tubes have to pay at buffets and AYCTEs. Guests with bariatric surgery plus letters from their doctors have to pay. Disney is fantastic at creating delicious meals for even serious allergies, never mind mild ones. Nobody else should expect such an exemption.

My travel companion and I are very light eaters, but we would not share a meal at Teppan Edo. We usually leave the restaurant sufficiently hungry enough to stop for dessert later. Others might and probably will disagree, but we consider Teppan Edo’s entrees too light to be shared unless you’re planning to snack shortly before or after the meal. As always, YMMV.

From experience. No. Just no. Not true.
Ymmv
It's definitely true at character meal locations. They aren't letting people sit there not eating, meeting characters, without paying.

They also aren't letting you share or not eat (without paying) at CRT as it's preapaid for the number in your party. Nor are they letting you share at a fixed price location like BOG.

If you've experienced something different, they you experienced pixie dust because it's contrary to standard policy and should not be expected.

But sharing a meal at a non character location? Sitting and not eating at a non character location? Go for it. Not a problem at all.

No, definitely not. I agree with you there. But unless you work for walt disney world, with first hand involvement in such things, and have knowledge about every single allergy/medical claim that is made, you really don't know how often this happens at the disney restaurants.

I can assure everyone this is not true. Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern, Garden Grill, Boma, Tusker House...each person pays whether they eat or not.
I'd like to think @Disneypro1 actually meant a la carte restaurants (ordering off the menu), and not buffets, AYCTE restaurants such as ohana, crystal palace, tusker house.

::yes:: Most people seem to get little pixie dust, while a few others are granted most of it.

You're right, of course. I am extrapolating that because WDW does such an amazing job catering to such a wide variety of allergies and degrees of allergies, that someone with a mild (per the poster) if atypical food allergy would not be able to enter an AYCTE restaurant without being charged.

That poster specified Garden Grill.
