Teppan Edo sharing a meal?

That poster specified Garden Grill.
They specified Garden Grill when referring to the fact that they werent charged for their child due to allergies. im referring to their statement about how sharing is allowed. im assuming they meant sharing at a la carte restaurants.

A la Carte is of course a shareable meal anytime. But I was specifically stating Garden Grill. We did not have to pay for our son. And honestly. Outside here. We have never even encountered a CM questioned sharing. It’s like it’s a non issue unless you post it here. So anyone’s experience could be different. I know what to expect when we goto WDW or DLR. anyone else. Could be different. But I’m sharing ours.

Sharing at an a la carte restaurant is one thing....and not paying for your son at Garden Grill is something totally different. What I was getting at in my previous post was that you didnt share a meal at Garden Grill with your son. Correct?

Yes. I did share. He could not really eat much that day. So He picked off of my plate a bit. And moms. The CM understood and had no issue with that. We did not pay for him.. As everywhere else we eat. Whether Disney or not.
Others may not have that experience. We do. And other than here. It’s never been an issue. Literally nothing ever said otherwise.
In a given day there is what over 60,000 - 100,000People eating at the parks and resorts? Easy that. So there will be thousands different experiences.

So you did in fact share a plate, and the CM still didnt charge your son? Wow, thats definitely some pretty sweet pixie dust!

PS: Dont worry about the nay-sayers on this board. You do you. And its true, so many people dine in wdw each day. There will definitely be a ton of different experiences. And im sure you're not the only one with that particular experience.

Oh I don’t worry. The nay sayers always unite and get all behind hurt when folks do things or receive things that they don’t thinks allowed or done etc. We do our trips as you say. “You do u” I have always lived life like that. We do what works for us and I really don’t care what the nay sayers think. I only post my experiences as to show things are done other ways as to their norm. There is, as you know. Many ways to do ADRs or ordering food or booking, free up grades. all this. There is no rule on how you do it. We all can be different. It is funny or I guess sad. That some folks just get bothered by folks living life or vacationing their own way. Not just my posts but others that get bashed or told. “You’re wrong.” We Only experience this on the boards, Not actually at WDW. All things that we hear. “You can’t do that.” Well, Maybe you can. If you ask. So folks need to know that yes you CAN do things other ways. Or get perks. Etc.
thanks for commenting.

Disneypro1, you sure are lucky. Always getting upgrades when asked for, not having to pay for a meal at a pre-plated place. What's your secret?
Just ask. Really is that simple. Or actually start a conversation with a CM that may be from your state or Alma Mater or military branch. Just treating a human being like a human being.

I kind of have to ask you about this situation and what was said. Your first post about it said that your son did not eat because of allergies, but then you said that he did in fact eat off of your plate. So I was wondering if you told the server that he was not eating and just snuck him food, or did the server know that he was eating and still did not charge you? When our kids were little, we had similar situations where they did not eat and the servers still charged. Wondering what the magic words where that you used.

Agreed. Anybody eating anything free at a restaurant where even guests with feeding tubes (ergo, can't eat anything) is such pixie dust as to be virtually incredible.
It is incredible...and certainly not impossible. As the OP said, all you have to do is ask (and be nice). :) I like reading about experiences such as theirs. Warms my heart. Sorry that your friends with feeding tubes didnt have the same luck though.

On dis, you have to take things with a grain of salt. Things can here get heated, exaggerated, etc. God forbid you should say one little thing wrong...the dis-lords will surely put you in your place. I find it quite amusing really. :)

When we arrived we told the CM that our son won’t be eating. He didn’t really eat. He picked here and there. It wasn’t an issue and wasn’t the first or last time. As what to say? I mentioned that in an above post. Nothing special. Just ask. Others may have a different experience.

Lol, I know.
Most folks don’t take them serious as they are never wrong. They have the moral high ground stance or will say ‘That’s not ethical or such”. When In fact. If WDW allows it. Then they allow it. And that’s all that matters. There is so many variable experiences. And if one doesn’t fit their paradigm. Then look out. You’ll be told you are breaking a rule. When u aren’t or some how being lucky, when you aren’t.
I do want to respond though to the posts they post. Because their opinion is no more correct or morally superior to any other.
I was even told once it’s “wrong to be seated at a table for 4 “when we only had 2 of us. Lol no it isn’t wrong as Disney accommodated us. As we wanted xtra room.

I get that. Poster keeps saying ymmv. In all my years here, before that on the AOL message Boards, and visits starting even longer than that, I've never heard or read of anybody over the age of two avoiding paying for a pre-plated meal, for any reason, then being allowed to eat off others' plates and not being charged.

That's the mileage that may vary, not the apparent vast majority.

And all those posts represent one one millionth at most of the folks that don’t post. But travel to WDW. Or Dl

Someone eating in a restaurant without paying is breaking a rule. Nothing to do with my or anyone else's experience. Simple fact. Yes, even if the server looks the other way.
Server knew and said yes. Wasn’t looking other way. Sorry you don’t approve. But we don’t need your approval. We got It at Disney.

Thank you everyone for posting about Teppan Edo. My daughter an I will share a meal and my husband and and another daughter will each order their own. We are paying out of pocket and don’t want leftovers. Again my one daughter will only eat the steak only no sides. So I will plan on eating the shrimp and sides out of the combo with her. Thanks again. Sorry this post drifted so far. Hope everyone has a fantastic trip . :lovestruc
