Tent camping in the heat

We have a tent camping trip planned for next July at the Fort. We're a camping family (2 adults, 2 elementary school age kiddos) and often camp in California and are used to super oven hot dry camping days. However, tent camping in Florida is a whole different story.
I'd love tips on how to survive the heat, humidity and bugs while tent camping at the Fort. Thanks!

i think the best way for your family to practice what the heat would be like, right now in August to the end of September sometime got take a quick camping trip to Laughlin nevada. you will be able to tell your tolerance level.

we did it a few years ago at Lake Mohave in Augus, t had the time of our lives the kids still talk about ti.. but the heat was almost unbearable at night.

I’ve never camped at FW (we love the cabins) but I’ve been to WDW in ~100 degrees in Sep. The heat and humidity are oppressive and cooling off isn’t just a matter of comfort. It can get downright dangerous if you’re not resting & hydrating enough. Also, even not in a tent virtually everything with us was damp unless we could leave it in AC for a full day to dry

IDK, the two are apples and oranges. I spent a lot of time in my youth camping along 'The River' and the various lakes along it. The difference is that it's a dry heat. It's hotter than blue blazes but your sweat evaporates (which cools the body) and you can still breathe easily. WDW's heat comes with high humidity which means the sweat never evaporates so you're sticky and never feel cooled down and it just feels so hard to catch your breath.

How many days you going, maybe get a hotel and go less days? problem solved hehe. I personally think I would worry about getting sick from the heat. We have gone in early summer once and never again and had our Class B and my husband was complaining it was not cool enough for him even with AC bc it was hot, I mean hot hot hot. Bad enough you have to do the parks in the heat and not having a place to really cool off, yes you can go into restaurants, etc., but not the same. Plus rain and rain. I do see peeps doing AC tho may help but who wants to go and be miserable. Get a hotel room and go less days. Maybe even do one of the Values. We were Starwood members and used to get great points and use at Dolphin but now we bring our dog so that is out. There are other hotels near that are a lot of fun and decent priced but what about a Value and less days? You might not enjoy the parks for a lot of days anyway with so much heat, at least we wouldn't. Also many places still need masks.

We camped in a tent there in July once years ago. I am not adding anything new to the discussion but have to say I agree with those that say don't do it. It was not only the heat, we had fans that helped a bit, but it was the everyday afternoon/evening thunderstorms on top of the heat that put us over the edge. I would absolutely rather stay offsite in an inexpensive motel than ever do that again. There are some decent ones that even include transportation to the parks that aren't a whole lot more than the cost of the campsite. This summer during our annual trip we had quite a few days where it rained for hours and even overnight. Please think carefully!

Just ...........no . FW is not inexpensive , and without A/C (plus the rain/wind storms) in the summer months , just , no . You can easily just book a room at the All-stars WITH A/C for less than staying in a tent at FW . Your sig says you are DVC owners ? USE IT at DW in the summer , lol .
