Hello everyone. We arrive on the 26th and will be doing a one night stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort since the Fort didn't have anything starting on Saturday when I booked. After that it is off to the Fort for 6 nights of tent camping. Having stayed at the Fort for one night a couple of years ago we decided to do the whole week there this year. We always go over spring break/Easter so we are used to the crowd levels and such. We will be doing quick service dining for the duration and are the rope drop types. I was hoping someone could give me a few ideas on good sites in the 2000 loop. Looking for something quiet, easy to get in and out of and close-ish to a comfort station. We are a family of five(kids are teens, pre-teen). All experienced tent campers, hikers etc. When everything set up we will have approximately 250-300 sq feet of covered space. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Saw this and went back to an email I had sent a friend when I did some research and recon of the 2000 loop for him. The 2000 loop has 2 comfort stations. One near the exit of it and the other neat the middle of the u turn . Sites 2004 and 06 sit on either side of the walkway that leads to station 1. Sites 2005/07/08/09 and 2060 /61 are all extremely close with 2063/64/65 adjacent to the station. Station as sites 2020/21/19 on path leading to station with sites 2013/14/15/17/18 very nearby
Hope that helps

We stayed in both 2020 and 2016, both easy walks to the comfort station down a concrete path and far enough away so you don't hear the buses. All the sites in 2000 are fairly large and you should have no problem with size site you need. You could also go on to you MDE account or call and have your tent sizes listed so they can make sure you fit on a site.

2000 loop suggestions ??? but there aren't that many loops. Ok, suggestion One......

Thanks for the great info, 63,64 and 65 were where I was thinking but checking on he others.

I like the sites on the right side of the loop as you drive in. The first 15-20 back up to a very small canal but it's pretty far away so you get a nice size "backyard". A bit further up starting around 2034, just past the first comfort station, the sites sort of back up to the primitive camping area. There is another comfort station there that we found very convenient as it has more toilets (and lower ones that I like better) plus it has a big dishwashing sink outside. If the primitive camping is in use the bathrooms are open, if not the bathroom is closed. For your kids, the primitive camping area has a sand volleyball court and a basketball court that my kids make much use out of. It also provides a GREAT shortcut to the pool area since 2000 is pretty out of the way for amenities.

I would say it's preferable to have bikes to stay there - it's a long walk to the pool/campfire area and there is no direct bus. At night, the shortcut is not lit.

Happy to pass on what little I know on the subject Hope you will find it useful. Oh as AMCC said having Bikes is a great idea for here and just about anywhere in Ft W

We were at 2037 in October. Across from comfort station. A little walk to bus stop (used some shortcuts _ not thru any sites) Site pics in the "post your campsite picture " thread.
