Decided to take a trip to the World Oct 9-13, just me and DD 4. Checked these boards, then called my AAA agent a couple of weeks ago. While she didn't tell me exactly what code she would use, she said that the "Oct-Dec" Disney code, if we could find availability remaining, would be better than the AAA room discount on my 5-day MYW w/ DDP package.
At first, she reported no availability at the values for my dates using the "Oct-Dec" code. She went ahead and booked the package for us at All-Star Music for $1233. That was with the AAA discount, so if (as I've read here and elsewhere) the AAA discount is only on the room portion of the package and not on the DDP and park tickets, we saved about $120 or so (about 20%) on the room (from what I can tell of the rack rates over on Mousesavers.com) and 7 or 8% on the package as a whole.
A day later, she got back to me to let me know that she had found (?) availability at All-Star Music using the Disney "Oct-Dec" code. Got the package price down to $1035. Again, assuming that the discount is on the room portion of the package only, the room comes out to $54/night for 5 nights, more than a 50% savings off the reported rack rates. Even if I figure my savings on the package as a whole, I still save about 23%.
My math is typically lousy, but if these numbers are even remotely close, I'll take that sort of savings any day.
