I just changed our ressie from CBR to CR. I was almost going to switch to WL until I read the transporation reviews on Deb Will's site. (we do love the CR) I respect all of you here on these boards and I wondered if anyone had poor transporation stories. I really wanted to try the WL but not willing to "share" buses with other hotels and Fort Wilderness. Some people wrote about the Fort Wilderness boat not even stopping at WL because it was already full. Anyone experience that?

On one previous trip I remember somewhere stopping at Fort Wilderness and WL. Not sure where we were coming from or going to, but remember stopping at both. Am I messing up that memory????

Since I've changed my ressie 3 times, it just won't be carved in stone until the last minute!!

Thanks,

Anna

We stayed at the WL this past Christmas through New Year's Eve, one of the busiest times at WDW. The transportation was virtually flawless. We had no bus waits over 10 minutes, with a vast majority of the wait times being under 5 minutes. We never had a boat pass because it was full, nor did they ever fail to get everyone on a boat who was waiting when it arrived. We were there long enough that I think we would have seen any problems if there really were any.

Most, if not all of the negative comments on that site are at least a year old, with quite a few 2 years or more. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in comments from that long ago. Most of the comments I've read on this board from people who have been there recently are very positive.

Btw, as I understand it, most resorts "share" busses with other resorts.

It's been over a year but when we stayed there, WL was sharing busses with Polynesian and GF. They ran fairly often but the extra stops took a long time. It has probably changed since then though. Don't remember having a problem with the boat.

The best transportation I have seen was at AKL. They don't share busses. :D

We also stayed at The Wilderness Lodge this past Xmas/New Year.

I totally agree - the transportation was exceptional - especially considering it was one of the busiest times of the year.

I can't remember waiting for more than about 5 minutes, and again , I didn't encounter a boat going past because it was full once.

We absolutley loved our stay at The WL - it is a fantastic resort which is beautifully themed and in a great location and with IMO brilliantly effective and well-organised WDW transport.

Richard. :)

I just returned from the WL and I can tell you that I never shared a bus with Fort Wilderness and at at AKL, WL now shares a bus with the GF. The boat is still shared with FW, but I never encountered a problem with that. If it's really busy, they'll run 3 boats, so plenty of room for everyone.

I also was concerned about the transportation issues at WL. But I think Disney must have looked into it because most people say it is fine now. Based on that we changed our resort yesterday. Going to WL!!!!!

Just booked our first trip staying at WL in mid June. Wondering if the preferred method to Epcot from this resort is taking the bus, or taking the boat to MK & then the monorail.
Glad to hear other transportation times were good. Now I know where all the buses were when I was at the Poly during Xmas! 30-40 minute waits for buses to AK, MGM & Downtown Disney were the norm--with standing room only when it arrived!

We stayed at WL in July and had no complaints about the transportation. The only bus we had to wait on was the DTD bus but from what I have heard that is common with a lot of resorts.

We stayed at WL during Thanksgiving 2002. We never had any boat problems. There are boats with two types of color flags operating at WL. One goes directly to MK and another stops at FW. They usually arrived within 5 minutes.
We usually went took the monorail to Epcot from MK, because the boat ride to MK was a nice relaxing way to start the day.
I would pick WL over CR because the themeing of the entire resort is unbeatable. Every light fixture, carpet and piece of furniture is made to look like it was a part of a NW lodge.
Cant wait to go back again.
