Here's my itinerary:

July 25th: Fly into SNA. Arrive 4:30PM..........check into BWPPI and head to the park.
July 26, 27, 28......DisneyLand
July 29.....Check out the Hollywood sign on way to Pacific Coast Highway
Stop somewhere part way to San Francisco to spend the night. WELCOME SUGGESTIONS HERE!!!
July 30th.......drive the rest of the way to SF.....See the Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street, ride a cable car
July 31st........anything not finished in SF, Muir Woods and drive to Yosemite!!
Aug 1st Yosemite
Aug 2nd Yosemite and drive part way if not all the way back to Anaheim.
Aug 3rd One last day at DisneyLand
Aug 4th Fly home!

On the 29th don't go to the PCH to leave the LA area. Take 101 north to San Luis Obisbo(SLO). You can stay there for the night although it isn't far north. You may consider reserving a late afternoon tour of Hearst Castle.

The thing is SLO has a lot of lodging options. Then is Morrow Bay with many options, next is Cabria with a few options, then San Simeon with fewer options. This is the physical order of these towns and San Simeon is the location of Hearst Castle. These are over a distance of 20 miles.

The problem is this leaves a lot of driving for the 30th. So you may want to make the 29th a long day and drive the 101 to SLO then Highway 1 to Monterey.

The reason to do this is because SF has tons of things to do, and you aren't planning enough time there.

I agree with Skiingfast. Take the 101 north rather than the 1 to SLO. You might find heavy traffic around the Santa Barbara area. Unless you particularly want to see Santa Barbara, I recommend looking for the 192 and head to the 154. The 154 will get you back to the 101 at Los Olivos.

There's a lot to stop for along the PCH. And it actually takes longer than you expect. Are you planning on stopping in Carmel/Monterey or driving straight through?

If you leave early enough on the 29th and avoid the peak traffic, you might want to consider driving to San Simeon and staying there. There will be less options than SLO; but at least you will be closer towards SF from there.

Is this your first time in the SoCal/NorCal area? There is a TON of stuff to do in SF...it just depends on what you like to see and do.

Your alternative is to keep that last day at DLR flexible and cut it out if you need to.
