I should choose VWL (studio) over a woods view regular room at the lodge? They look similar in size. I understand there is a kitchenette in the villa. Is it really worth $100 more a night?

I have stayed in both VWL studio and the WL regular rooms. While the studio (to me) is nicer than WL rooms, it is not worth $100 extra a night. You can do a little cooking in the room, but for that much extra I would want a chef thrown in!

Happy planning

I've stayed in both the resort and VWL, and I agree with Muushka. It would be hard to justify the extra $100 per night.

You don't say how many people are travelling with you, but that could make a difference. If it's just one or two, in the VWL studio you can leave the sofa/sleeper in the sofa position, thereby giving you a fair increase in usable space. Also, many people prefer to sit on a sofa while watching TV, etc instead of lying on a bed.

But again, if it was my decision, I'd stick with the WL room.

Well there are four of us. The $100 is just the amount that disney charges. What if I can get them for approximately the same cost thru a DVC member?

We think the decor in the villas is nicer than the lodge rooms but not $100/night nicer. Depending, you could actually save money over the lodge by "renting" from a DVC member. Check out the rent/trade boards if you're not familiar with the concept.

Here's something to consider........ With 4 in the room.....not sure if all four people in your party are adults but WL charges an extra $25.00 per night per adult over the 2 adult occupancy in their regular rooms. Would the extra 2 people (if adults) rather sleep on a sofa sleeper in the villas or in the queen bed WL regular rooms offer?

you should be able to get a studio at VWL from a DVC member for around $120 (Sept, Oct, most of Nov, Dec 1-23) per night.

that is $10 a point.

be aware that most of Oct and Nov are gone - due to the Wine/Food Festavial, the early Dec is gone due to all the christmas stuff.

if you rent from a DVC member then there is no extra charge for adults over 2

Are you saying that I only need 12 points per night? I thought I needed 22 per night, Sun. thru Thurs. We have 2 Adults, 2 children12 and 15, so they are as big as adults. We are going Jan. 2 - Jan. 7
Thanks

My suggestion? Go for the 22 points a night and get a 1 bedroom! ::yes::

the studio is 12 points per night Sun-thurs.

the one-bedroom is 22 points (Sept, Dec 1-14, Jan)
for Oct, Nov1-23 & 27-30, Dec 15-23 - it is 24 points per night

the two bedroom is 30 points (Sept, Dec 1-14, Jan)
for Oct, Nov1-23 & 27-30, Dec 15-23 - it is 32 points per night.

all these are Sun-thurs nights

fri/sat are much, much higher!

for both the studio and 1-bedroom - you are getting a bed and a sleeper sofa

for the 1-bedroom you get a king bed and queen sleeper sofa

for the studio you get a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa

with the1-bedroom you get a full kitchen (small - but everything is there) and a master bath with a whirlpool tub. a laundry closet with a washer and dryer is also in this room.

for the studio besides the kitchenett it is just like a hotel room - well the sleeper sofa can be put up in the daytime so you have more room.

the laundry room is on the first floor at VWL - it is free (looks like it needs coins - it doesn't) - you need to bring your own detergent and fabric softenor - WDW is expensive. If you go with the studio.
