I'm thinking about me & DH taking an extended weekend trip for my 35th b-day in March. I feel slightly guilty about celebrating without DS, but I've always dreamed of DH & I having an adults only weekend at wdw. Plus we just had a family trip in Nov, and we're going to a local Cirque show the next weekend, so that's not a terrible mom right?

What kind of entertainment is at DTD now? We've never been to PI because we've always traveled with DS.

Don't feel guilty.:) My husband and I have taken two trips without our children for our 6 year anniversary and our 10 year anniversary. Sure we missed our kids but it gave us some quality alone time which we needed.
Go, have a good time.

an adults only trip is awesome. we did one in 2009 and hoping to do one in 2012.
Be prepared for comments from others about slighting your kid(s). I got them. But then I reminded those people that my kids had been to Disney 8 times in 6 years they didn't feel so bad for them any more.

Have fun!

Sarah

Go have fun. My DW and I have taken a couple of cruises with friends who have kids that we have never seen.

Thanks! I feel better now :goodvibes. We don't mind taking little trips away together, I was just feeling a little bad because I'd be celebrating my birthday without him, but let's be honest, what 13 year old boy really cares about his mom's birthday? ;)

So what kind of night life can me and DH enjoy? It looks like PI may be a shell of it's former self, and we never got to experience it :sad2:. Is the Boardwalk area any fun at night? Should we perhaps stroll over there after Epcot? What about Paradiso 37, looks like they have a deck and live entertainment.

Go and have fun. I just got back from an adult only trip. DS stayed home and I didn't feel guilty. You need time to be an adult and celebrate your birthday. We did all the grown up things. We had fantastic meals and drinks, went to the spa, and did exactly what we wanted to do.

Check out Reglan Road for drinks and entertainment downtown. It was a lot of fun. Not sure where you staying, but check out the boardwalk for more entertainment.

I could go on and on about how much fun we had. I also could do the same for the trip DS and I took alone in August. We also have a trip planned for August. We had a great time, but it is different fun as an adult.

Have a great time and happy early birthday.

Don't feel bad. I'm going in Jan to celebrate my 40th birthday with a long-time friend who is also celebrating her 40th. We will be leaving the husbands & kids (my 2---ages 13 & 9, who've only been to Disney twice; her 1---age 11, who's been to Disney numerous times) at home. We are excited to have an adults-only trip. :)

Parents and kids need small breaks from each other. I say have a great time without the kid. He'll have an adventure and so will you.
Parents need bonding time too
IMHO

My 35th is in May....I'm still trying to convince myself to try to convince DH that we need a Mommy&Daddy trip. DD is 7 and has been twice and is not such a great traveler....Go and have a BLAST!

As long as you don't leave them home all the time...taking time for yourselves will make you better parents.

I totally agree with CTNurse. Just go and have fun. DTD does not have as much fun as it did when Pleasure Island was active, however, there are many things to do in Disney that are adult. If you need a list, pm me or CTNurse. I just don't have the energy at this time to type all. . .lol. I love being an adult at Disney.

We leave next Thursday for our 20th anniversary trip .. NO KIDS never done WDW without the kids but an extended weekend is what we really wanted to do and WDW was the best deal out there for that weekend !! Looking forward to it we are staying at AKL for the first time and I am not feeling bad at all !! :thumbsup2

My boyfriend and I leave in 28 days for a adult only trip. This is the third time I've gone without the kids and I absolutely feel no guilt whatsoever. Im always mixing it up. Sometimes Ive taken my daughters only - sometimes my son and one of his friends - sometimes the whole gang goes. Theres only one constant - momma always goes:hippie:. Each trip has a different bunch of characters (of our own - not the disney kind) and I wouldnt trade any of them for anything:hug:

My wife and I are celebrating her 30th birthday on an adults only trip to Disney in Feb. We were back and forth about our feelings at first but are really excited since we have not been there adults only since our honeymoon. We can not wait to enjoy some time as a couple at our favorite place!

I am so glead you brought this up. Am trying to find 4 days for me and DH to get away SOON but the thought of not bringing the kids has kept me from booking anything. Our 15th anniversary was in Nov., I completed my masters and DH his 1st degree as well so we have a lot to celebrate. We have talked often of going alone but not sure how I will handle it without the kids with us!

We are also trying to plan a Dec family trip this year and just went in June last year so it is not like they have been/will be deprived:rotfl:

Back to reservations :)

Boardwalk is fun at night. gorgeous views. Especially Jelly Rolls! It is dueling pianos that play songs, take audience requests & generally joke with each other & the audience. They also have audience participation--we have had a blast! Going back for our 30th wedding anniversary this May-can hardly wait. I also second Raglan Road, I've heard good things about them too... Another fun thing we've done-Have a Lapu lapu (or your drink of choice) at The Polynesian bar, eat a yummy dinner at Kona Cafe & then go play Putt Putt! Its your adult time-do whatever you want!!
