1. Tell me I did the right thing canceling TWO value studios at AKV! We went with a 2-BR instead. We have been booking a separate studio for our DS19 and DS17 lately and it's worked out great. But now DS19's GF will be joining us, so we need a third sleeping location. At first, I was going to keep the two studios and she and I were going to take one and my DH and two DSs were going to take the other. But I really didn't want to be separated, so I decided to splurge on the 2 BR at Kidani. Plus we get an extra bathroom!

2. Tell me I did the right thing waitlisting the dedicated 2 BR for all 5 nights instead of booking the dedicated and waitlisting just the fourth night. I really want a dedicated but not enough to move rooms!

3. Tell me I did the right thing making my waitlist expire 7 days before. We will not be canceling if the waitlist doesn't come through plus it is the same number of points.

Did I do ok?

Hmm that's a tough one, when are you going? I would have probably confirmed the 4 nignts waitlisted the 5th and canceled the 2 studios.

I'd confirm the first four nights in the two bedroom and waitlist the fifth night. It's easier to get a small waitlist. Do you have enough points to hold two reservations? I've done that before. You will love the two bedroom. We did that with friends last April. I took the bedroom with my three kids. She took the master with her girls. Living room was common. Amazing time.

The waitlist would have been for the fourth night, not the fifth. So I would have had to book the first three nights, then the fifth night, and wait listed the fourth night. That would make a chance to move rooms twice. Not happening.

Quandrea, we are actually regulars of the 2 BR. We've done them with our two sons for years. We just started doing the two studios to save some points and guarantee a little more privacy. But we love the 2 BRs for sure! The only 2 BR we've stayed in at Kidani has been a savanna view. Hope we are happy with the standard at Kidani. Love Jambo House more plus standards are pool view there but hate the bathroom layout and wanted the third bathroom!

You did the right thing. Two moves is not good. The standard views are fine. If you ask to be near the Pumba elevator, you may get a room that used to be savannah view. They weren't the best savannah views and people complained, but they certainly are nice for a standard price. Very quiet too. We love Kidani.

I really don't want to move even once. I have come to hate split stays. I was actually thinking of doing the studios for a night or two, them moving to a 2 BR. Then I changed my mind and scrouged for points and even purchased some one time use points just so I could be in the 2 BR for all 5 nights.
I requested partial savanna view and low floor. Do you think that will work or should I call back and request near Pumba elevator instead?

Has that happened to you before? I have never had to move, I wouldn't think you would need to unless there was a room category change. But you wouldn't want to be hanging out there up to 7 days before if you weren't canceling the studios so I see your point. Did you ask MS how far back you were on the waitlist?

Has what happened to me before? Sorry, I'm not following you.
I cancelled the studios because I had to use those points for the 2 BR. What I was referring to is that I booked a lock-off 2 BR but I wanted a dedicated. The dedicated wasn't available on the fourth night so I just booked the lock-off and waitlisted the dedicated for all 5 nights.

You did fine...have a great time. I do hope you get the dedicated though, the balconies are tremendous!

Ah, I missed the part where you booked the lock off, yes that makes since. Lol maybe I shouldn't post after 8pm the brain is shutting down. Hope you all have a great time!

No, you didn't miss it. I didn't write it! Guess my brain has shut down, too!

Thanks, bobbiwoz! Love those big balconies, especially if we get a partial savanna view. Won't be as good as the Sunset savanna-view we got a few years ago, but better than a parking lot.

I'd have booked the lock-off and waitlisted the dedicated also. The lock-off will be good too though so if it doesn't come through it's not a big deal. We always try for Kidani if possible for the extra bathroom. Comes in VERY handy!

Lock off is truly better, especially since you used to book separate rooms. We do this with my parents every trip because they go to bed early and we don't. The young adult children can sty out late and they will not wake you returning because they have their own door. I think you will see you really like the lock-off. The AKV-K are the largest rooms, I believe, other than OKW. It is my favorite resort.

I love Kidani, too. It has the best savanna by far. It is so peaceful if you're looking for that quiet vacation. I definitely like quiet, but I love the Jambo House lobby. I like that you can walk out your door into that lobby but close the door and you hear nothing. The best of both worlds.

I know we will be fine in a lock-off, but we prefer dedicated just for the two beds. Plus my DS's GF will be using the sleep sofa in the living room, so we won't have the luxury of people coming in quietly to the studio portion and not the living room.
