Eh, doesn't sound crazy to me. I've flown to WDW from Buffalo on Friday morning & home Sunday evening. Not 9 hour drive, but 2.5 hour flight plus the 2 hours at airport before & hour to hotel after landing. I got a lot a of "you're kidding" looks from friends & coworkers. My DH & I like to drive places together too. We drive about an hour every weekend in the summer to go to the drive in. You only live once! Enjoy your trip.

Our upcoming trip next Friday is a little bittersweet because it'll be our last Wishes viewings. I even booked the dessert party. And as soon as I found out when Pandora opened I booked us three nights in early June at AKL. And my partner in crime (the younger daughter) and her best friend came to me last night and asked about booking a trip for them and their friends (they're all in college). Even though she will have made three trips in six months time (we were there Jan 2-5) She's cool with them booking a trip for this summer

We did the same last September, there was a band at F & W I had wanted to see and our trips never matched up with their dates. So we booked a night at YC, left NC around midnight and got to EPCOT for rope drop. Did a few rides, ate at some of the booths and checked in to YC and had a nap and pool time. Back to EPCOT for the show, Illuminations and some dinner. We left the next day around noon and got back to NC around 9.
I won't tell you that you are crazy!
We enjoy the drive, so that isn't a big deal for us, and we did sleep till it was time to leave and alternated sleeping and driving on the way down.
Yes, we were tired on Monday but I have felt just as tired from doing things not nearly as fun!

It's about a 9 hour drive for us too. DD is home from college for spring break. Sunday night she and DW got to dreaming about a quick trip. DW cleared her schedule and they took off this morning. Should be arriving in WDW about now. They will go rope drop until closing at MK tomorrow and then come back Thursday morning. DS and I are holding down the fort at home and taking care of all the furbabies. The things you can justify with an AP!

That's why my husband will be doing next weekend. Our oldest is going to Savannah for her spring break, will leave on Thursday. Amy and I will leave on next Friday morning, he'll be on fur baby duty, will work Friday and then go over to Amelia Island on Saturday an come home Sunday. Kelly will be home from Savannah Sunday, Amy and I home on Monday. technically their spring break is 20-24 but neither have class on Friday the 17th.

So my wife and I are planning on a super quick trip at the end of March. (We are AP holders). We are going to drive to Jacksonville Friday night and then drive to the Dolphin for a 1 night stay. We plan on hanging out by the pool most of the day and then walking over to Epcot to go see Night Ranger perform (One of my wife's favorites). Then we leave Sunday about lunch time for the drive home. (9 hours).

Just want to make sure we are not actually crazy just "Crazy for Disney" lol.

I've done a couple of crazy Disney trips - two night trip to ride Maelstrom one last time and two night trip to go to Festival of the Arts and a basketball game at the Amway Center - HOWEVER, I used points to book our flights. I, personally, physically, couldn't do an 18-hour round-trip car trip in that short period of time. I once drove non-stop from central PA to Atlanta, GA (with stops for gas only) and almost collapsed when I got out of the car in Atlanta - my legs just didn't work normally after sitting that long!

End of September we drove 9 hours, arrived at ASMovies, visited Disney Springs and had dinner, slept in the next morning, headed to the MK around 3 in order to get into the MNSSHP just before 4, slept in the next morning and then drove home 9 hours. It was short, and we would have loved to stay longer....but we wanted to take our son to the Halloween party and that's all the time we had available at the time.

We only live 4 hours away and frequently pop down for one park day...or just for a halloween party. I have been thinking of driving down, doing a park day and driving back all in the same day.

Not crazy at all. I live 6.5 hours away, my DD goes to school in St Pete and we do quick weekends as often as we can. Just last weekend I left work at noon on Friday, got to Disney around 6:30pm. It was the evening of the DVC event and we had tickets so went to the MK on Friday, did HS & Epcot on Saturday, and left WDW to drive home around noon on Sunday. It makes for a quick weekend, but definitely worth it!

I should have pointed out that we are using points to stay at a hotel in Jacksonville as well as the Dolphin so the only cost for the rooms is for Dolphin resort fee and parking. That makes it sound a little *less* crazy lol. I would love to stay an extra day or 2 (or 10) but unfortunately my wife doesn't have any vacation days until end of April so we sort of have to make the best of it.

If it were me and it was only 5 or 6 weeks until my wife had more vacation time, we'd just put the trip off until then and then plan on spending several days or a whole week in the magic

Just an update. My wife and I did make the quick weekend trip and it was great. We had a great time. We left Friday afternoon and arrived at our hotel in Jacksonville about 12am. Next morning we had a nice breakfast and drove to the Dolphin and arrived about 10:30. We spent most of the day at the pool and had a great time. Quick nap and walked to Epcot to see the last 2 shows of Night Ranger. Even hit up the Frozen ride saw Illuminations. Next morning walked to HS for rope drop. Hit Toy Story, Star Tours, Tower of Terror all before 9:30am. Walked to Epcot for a little shopping and some more sampling of the food booths and the Flower and Garden. Left about 1pm and was home by 10pm. Yes, lots of driving but really is an easy trip. We have AP and had some left over hotel points so it really didn't cost us much. Now if I had to purchase tickets I would not do a quick trip like that.

So my suggestion for anyone who is on the fence about a trip like this or something similar, if you have the means to do it, go do it and have fun. Life is too short.

Oh, we are also going again in 2 weeks this time with our 15yr old son and my mother-in-law. 4 night trip this time though!

Thanks for the update! If we were that close I could see doing some short weekend trips with an AP. We are 16 hours away though so it's hard to justify quick trips unless we were to get great flight prices which is possible now with Frontier flying out of CMH

That's awesome! I'm a little jealous. I couldn't make a last trip for Wishes work and I'm pretty sad about it. At least I will be there a week after Pandora opens to see it!
