Tell me about your shampoo

I absolutly swear by Aussie Root Cleanser Tip Mender. It's the best. I have fine, limp hair and it really helps.

Just tried this for the first time last month. LOVE this product!

I have tried expensive and cheap shampoos and my hair can't tell the difference. I buy whatever is on sale

Some people swear expensive shampoo is the only way to go and I would use it if that were the case for me

I used to use Kiwi, switched to Artec, then Biolage. Then, when we bought our first home, switched to Pantene, and now I use Target's brand/version of Pantene. Tell you the truth, my hair has never been shinier. Go figure. :sunny:

You see, I *heard* they use polymers/waxes in some of these shampoos to give your hair shine. It works for me for a few days, but that stuff builds up on your hair. After a week, my hair is lifeless. But I do have very lightweight flyaway hair and I think I just notice it. If you've got thick, heavy hair and it's all one length, you probably don't notice it too much. :confused3

I started using those new suave "like Matrix" products. I really like them. For $1.50 I thought it was worth trying and now I am on my second purchase because I liked what it did for my hair and the price. Seems to help out my frizzies most days and hair is softer. I also use Pantene and L'oreal colorvive...usually i have about 3 bottles going at once (drives DH crazy...especially since he is in the army and has very little hair :rotfl: ) Never was a fan of the regular sauve but I like the new "fancy" line. I never buy the salon stuff because it is so expensive.

I have very long brunette hair. I use Biolage, Pantene, and Clarifying Herbal Essence. I am looking for a shampoo that mainly deals with Oily hair. It seems in the last few months my hair hasn't gotten so oily. Any suggestions? (I do not put conditioner on my scalp anymore where it seems to be so oily) Help would be great!!!

Okay, YUCK, I tried an experiement this weekend.

After reading this thread, I (a long-time salon shampoo devotee) figured that I should *revisit* the store bought shampoo thing. It's been years since they stopped making my special type of L'Oreal Vive (Hydravive) and I had to *go* salon. I was hoping that maybe they had made some improvements over the years.

So, a few of you mentioned the Aussie products. Specifically Snoopy mentioned the Root Cleanser/Tip Mender. Now, I vaguely remember Snoopy saying she had fine hair. I have fine hair.

I picked some up at Target on Saturday and used it Sunday morning. I continued with my regular Aveda conditioner with volumizing properties. After I used it, I noticed that my hair felt "silkier and slicker" but not like I had used too much conditioner. It was just different. I also had less body and my hair was flatter (but not in a greasy way). I had to use a lot of hair spray to try to get it to hold its style. Used it again today, and my hair is a complete disaster. I never imagined it would make *such* a difference. It is so droopy. I have a very layered hairstyle, and basically after I put all my products in, I can dry it into place with my hands and the blow dryer. I use a brush at the very end. This is just a disaster. There was no way just "scrunching" it was gonna work. I used 3 different brushes and TONS of hairspray and it still looks like I'm having an very bad hair day.

I guess this stuff works if you just have long, straight hair. Don't use this if you have layers.

So, I'm back to the expensive stuff.

I find that for keeping color lasting longer in between coloring, a professional product always works better than a cheaper one. I swear by Redken Color Extend.

ITA, and the New Redken Color Extend is even better. I work in a hair salon so I always use salon products and I do see a difference and think they are better. It is also a good idea not to use the same shampoo all the time. Switch it up once in awhile and you will see the difference in your hair.

Aha! I'd mentioned this to my stylist and she thought I was strange. I like switching off and on every few months.

That is because there is no proof of this. But, I've been doing hair for over 20 yrs. and I switch also. I just think my hair does better when I switch around. Although with Artec's Kiwi, I don't have to switch too often.

As for the oily hair question, I think it is very hard to find a shampoo for oily hair these days. I use Herbal Essences Oily hair (Clarifying shampoo) on DD. I've looked at all my suplly stores and can't really find much of a choice for oily hair. HE's works well for her.

I wouldn't say my hair is oily but I do find I have a lot of natural oils in it and if I don't wash every day, it will be oily/greasy and I have the best results with the following products:

biolage, aveda, finesse, nexus, dove

Buckalew,
What do you think of ISO's Purifying Cleanse Shampoo? I've been using it for years and I use it everyday. My cousin is a hairdresser and she turned me on to this product. All of the other clarifying/cleansing shampoos were so harsh on my hair. This one I can use daily! And I really need to use one everyday as I put in Alterna's Volumizing Mouse, Aveda's Sap Moss Spray, and then top it off with Sebastian's Shaper Plus Hair Spray. :earseek: Yes, I have FINE hair, but this regimen roughs it up nicely.

As for today, I'm hiding in my cubicle with my bad Aussie shampoo hair. The stuff is also very "aromatic."

I have thin fly-away hair. It also tends to look dull and since it's blonde, develop a bit of a green sheen in the summer.

I use Tresemme Deep Cleansing shampoo which I buy at Target and Matrix Biolage Energizing Daily Leave-In Tonic which is sold through salons. The Matrix is rather expensive but you don't use much so it lasts a long time.

My hair is fuller, shinier and more manageable than it's ever been. I'm extremely pleased particularly with the Matrix product.

I used Pantene for years (long, thick, straight hair). I would also use V05 hot oil treatments once a week and every few weeks I would use the Pantene clarifying shampoo to strip off the residue. I was happy with my hair (sleek and shiny) but it always seemed a little weighed down.

I have been using the Suave-Just like Biolage for awhile now and I like it a lot. Much lighter and doesn't leave my hair as weighed down. I also have no split ends (used to have tons). For $1.50 a bottle, I am happy and I love the smell.

I have been using products by RUSK for about two years now. I absolutely love them. They have a few different lines.... I use the Rusk Internal Restructure ~ the hairspray is the best I've ever used it's called w8less. Anyone else hooked on RUSK???

I've used RUSK before--they sell the shampoos at BJs. Can't say they were bad or anything. I never tried any of their styling products though, but I do have a sample pack of something called RUSK Slick in my drawer. But the last thing I need is a "slick" product. I get "slick" naturally!

I have very thick, naturally curly hair.
I have used salon and store bought.
I like Pantene dry/damaged/color treated shampoo.
My stylist told me to quit using so much conditioner, and to only use it on the ends, (I put a tiny bit on the rest) so my hair won't get so frizzy. It has been working well like that.

I find you can't use a shampoo/conditioner one time and know how it will work on your hair. The weather, temperature, humidex all that will make a big difference in your hair. And your hormones of course play a big part of how your hair will work.-I always get the best curl during my 'time'.....

I also find Finesse hairspray works the best!
