We are returning to WDW on Oct. 19 and staying until the 23rd, this is a new time of year for us, we usually do spring/summer. How bad are the crowds? Anything I should be aware of other than the MNSSHP and the F&W Festival?

Thanks in advance!

We've had several visits this time of year and love it. Many of the rides are walk ons to short waits, crowds are very manageable. The weather is great days are still hot, to us northerners atleast, with cooler nights and little rain. We have absolutely fell in love with F&W, just seems to create even more energy at EPCOT and visiting any other time for us is not quite the same. We end most every evening relaxing around World Showcase. This year we are trying MNSSHP, a first for us- very excited! Hope you enjoy your trip!

perfect weather, great crowds, MNSSHP.......favourite time so far to visit.

We have gone at different times of year and like the fall best...the crowds are down but it is still warm enough to spend time in the water at TL and BB. The special foods around WS at EPCOT are fun and count as snacks if you are on the DDP. DW likes to go to the Party for the Senses on Sat. night. It is a little pricey but the food is great and you get a cirque de soleil presentation up close and personal with it. :dance3:

We are doing it again this Oct for 2 weeks. It still won't be long enough for us!

We go every year during the last week in October and have never had bad weather. Maybe a cool or very hot day here or there, but overall, great time to go. Just start your days early and if you can, try to avoid F&W on the weekends, or at least be prepared for crowds then because that is when the locals go. It is so much fun, keep an eye out for the "Eat to the Beat" music groups...usually oldies from the 60's and 70's.
We're not big fans of MNSSHP but lots of other people seem to enjoy it.

Have a great time...it is a wonderful time of year there!

Great time to go!! We've been there in October the last 2 years, good weather, moderate crowds, 20min waits tops for the big rides.

Good all around :thumbsup2

We've been in October the last 8 years. The weather is usually good (although we did have rain several days last year). I don't think we've had to wear jeans or sweatshirts, except maybe at night. If you want to go to a water park, check the weather when you get there and plan that day early because you might only have one or two days that really hot enough for the water park. Before last year, we never had trouble walking into just about any restaurant. Last year though, after they started offering the dining package, we were only able to get one sit-down meal. So, be sure to make reservations ahead of time if you want any sit-down meals.

I went over that time last year, and got hit by Hurricane Wilma. :( For two days before Wilma, it was HUMID and on-and-off heavy showers. Then the hurricane came through, and the couple days after were cold and blustery!! Still, the parks were mostly open and MNSSHP was great. But it was a disappointing trip for me, since I enjoy alot of the "extra" things like shows and characters, and lots of stuff was canceled or limited for days. And it was sad to be on vacation, and then meet many from South Florida who had damage to their houses and no electricity, which puts things in perspective.

So just be aware that October is still hurricane season. I actually planned the end of the month mainly to avoid hurricanes, and instead had to deal with one!! :( But normally it's a nice time to go as crowds aren't bad at all, as schools usually let off in the beginning of the month around Columbus Day, or the Jewish holidays.

Went there with just DH for our anniversary and had a great time! No waits, great weather! and the MNSSHP is superb! Don't miss it! Have a great time!

NO WAY!
My family is going there the 19th-23rd of october too! We are staying the 1st 2 nights in SSR and the last 2 nights in OKW!!! (DVC members!) maybe we will see you there! :cool1:

We go down in October each year - usually the weekend of our Canadian Thanksgiving - for at least 2 weeks. Weather is great and the crowds are tolerable. We thoroughly enjoyed our first MNSSHP last year and are returning again this October. Would definitely recommend October as a good time to go.

We went last year- Oct. 19 and got hit by Wilma. Parks were closed only for 1 morning. I thought the weather was good other than the storm. We enjoyed the pool but didn't find the parks too hot in the afternoon. The crowds were very light. Similar to mid-December.
