hi,

I just made an ADR for our anniversary and thought it would be special to eat at the Castle... I'm greedy though...I don't think it's worth the 2 TS each and I don't feel like paying $100 for it either! lol

So please convince me that we are doing the right thing... but please tell me the downside about eating there as well. We will be eating at 7:40pm, hoping to see a different view of Wishes.

Please tell all!

If you have never eaten in the Castle, you should try it at least once, IMHO. It is very special. If you will be there for the fireworks ask for a seat next to the window, and let them know you will wait a little longer for that table. It doesn't hurt to ask.

It does take a bite out of the wallet is the only down side. Its not something we would do every trip.

The Castle would be so much better if you could have a drink, drink ;)

I didn't realize CRT was 2 credits. I hate to rain on your parade but I didn't think it was worth the one credit. Everyone really should try it once but I would wait until it goes to 1 credit or pay out of pocket and skip appys and share a dessert.

It was a long wait to get in. When we were finally seated the room looked dirty (red carpets show everything). There was very little walking room yet tons of people trying to squeeze thru. Our server was nice but all she did was take our order and deliver the bill. Two very ogre-ish men were responsible for delivering meals....and they basically slapped it down in front of us. Don't go thirsty b/c it was hard to get a refill. The food was so-so. The room was dim so I guess there is one plus for romantic lighting but it was so crowded..sitting and standing. People were waiting by the stairs to go down b/c the staircase is so narrow...you have to go single file or wait for the elevator. There are LOTS of families in there...even at dinner. I can't imagine it being very romantic.

I'd recommend Le Cellier. It was very subdued. Though it was also crowded...the candlelight/darkroom/fairly well spaced tables didn't leave you feeling like you were in someone elses coversation. Even though there were children...most were quiet and well behaved...including my own! And the food was FABULOUS.

I hope you have a great trip and though I won't return to CRT, at least I can say I've been there!

There are lots of negative posts about CRT. My DH and I loved it in February. It is a little expensive though. We were against the far wall at a window overlooking the little Cinderella statue/fountain. I thought the food was very good. Our server took the order and delivered all but the dessert. Character interaction was very slight and nice enough. Loads of people with children did not make it a very romantic place to eat (you need to expect that at Disney unless you are willing to pay V&A prices!) but we had an enjoyable time. You do wait an extended time for table (and Cinderella picture). Definately a fun experience to try at least once. I wouldn't mind going back again ... but there are SOOOO many places to try yet!

Have fun at the Castle! Say HI to Cindy for me. :teeth:

We had dinner there in Dec. It was fun. It was my first time eating there and the atmosphere was awesome. The service was great, Fernando was our server and he was most attentive to our needs. All of us ordered the Prime Rib with cake for dessert and it was great. As far as price goes, I came in way under budget for what I thought it would cost, but again it was the atmosphere that made it worth the price anyway. Lots of unruly kids waiting down stairs :sad2: (another story) but the dining rooms were ok.

My mother and I went solo to CRT for dinner last December, before the "changes." In 30 years, we'd never been and had no idea what to expect (I didn't know these boards even existed!).

We were seated promptly. That's about the only plus I can say.

Food was mediocre for a very high price. The dining area was very loud and not quiet/intimate in the least. I don't know what they're serving now, but what they had on the menu last year really needed a wine pairing...might have helped it taste a little better, at least. We definitely felt rushed.

Before anyone flames me, DH & I do like the "whole package" on vacation...good food, good entertainment, good relaxation time. We like the whole kit & kaboodle. I don't expect perfection, but good meals & service is important to us as one part of our vacation, no matter where it is.

DH & I are childless, but WDW junkies nonetheless. We live a couple hours away, so we go a good bit during the year. I've always tried to get an ADR at CRT for DH & I thinking it would be a wonderful romantic dinner for the two of us. Big mistake. There are many more romantic restaurants with exceptional menus on WDW property (Jiko & LeCellier come to mind).

If you feel that strongly about eating in the castle, by all means, do it once. Very far from romantic, tho, and not a place I'd want to spend my anniversary.

Just my $0.02

Just wanted to agree with PlutoLvr about the romance factor which I included in my other post above. The dining room is huge and filled with people and is not very private -- so you may want to pick another restaurant for that "romance" factor (or room service!) because I found most restaurants were pretty noisey! Never really understood why they listed CRT under the "romantic" picks when you are using the WDW website.

Kona was a little less noisey then the rest of the places we ate (and therefore more romantic). This November I am hoping to get ADR at LeCellier and this is not the only thread where others said it was a little more romantic than other places.

But have fun ... do CRT at least once!!!! I thought our food was good and I did not have the "before the tramatic" change to compare our experience with.

Kona was delicious but because it is open to the hotel all along one side it wouldn't seem romantic to me.

LeCellier was delicious, more subdued, but people still wearing shorts, so not romantic enough for a special anniversary (IMHO).

When I told people about WDW I said there was not a big romance factor there. I guess if you REALLY want romance -- best get a bottle of wine and room service ... & if you're lucky a balcony with a good view .... but CLOSE THE DRAPES if you are on the ground floor!! :teeth:

"Wished I Lived In" does have a point about KONA but at least it was a little quieter than other places ... and ok ... I had one of those fruity drinks and maybe couldn't see anyone else but the guy across the table .... :teeth:
