Ok...I was looking at the menu. Looks pretty good! We will be on the deluxe dining plan.

Thoughts? Did you like it?

Anyone know if you can order the banana split for dessert and if it's still on the menu?

Thanks.

This has become a MUST DO for us every year to get away from all the "heavy" meals we eat on the dining plan. My DH loves the reuben and grilled chicken sandwich and I have enjoyed by burger and club sandwiches. Comes with fries or German potato salad. The portions are huge. It is very good. DH and I usually share a shake and then we both have our own dessert. Last year, I had the hot fudge sundae :worship: and DH had the banana split (this was last September). We're going back this year for our final lunch at Disney before we head to Daytona Beach for the rest of our trip.

We love The Plaza!!! Sometimes the actual sandwiches are not my favorite, but nothing beats the Mint Chocolate Chip shake that they have!!! LOVE IT! Make sure you order any shakes/malts early, because they tend to take a long time to make.

The Plaza has a nice atmosphere, and we always have fun!

We had lunch there last week. DH had the club sandwich and said it was one of his favorite meals of the trip. I had the vegetarian sandwich and liked it. All the kids were happy with their meals, too, and our server was excellent!

The plaza is good.Grew up only going to the plaza every night lol :thumbsup2

1) All depends upon for what you are looking.
2) If you want a true sit-down meal, then it is a poor choice.
3) If you want a sandwich-based meal, it will suffice nicely.

We are DXDP this trip too and also want to squeeze it in ...it's such an inexpensive choice I keep thinking we should save it for another trip, but it just looks so open and crisp and tempting :lovestruc I haven't been since I was little.

If you go in knowing it is a sandwich shop with ice cream, you won't be disappointed. We enjoy the Plaza! However, people have complained on this board that it isn't a good use of DDP credits. We agree...we pay OOP for this meal, but still enjoy it.

I know people love this restaurant and on that basis, my DH and I went.. I thought the service was poor, it was just a sandwich and not spectacular and the people sitting beside us at their table were so close we could hear them chewing.. Not my cup of tea, and I would not go back. I would prefer fast food in the parks to this restaurant.. but then again this is my opinion..

I think of Plaza as a sort of "inbetweener"---it's not the equivalent of most TS locations, but it's a nice step up from a you-lug-it CS meal. If that's the sort of thing you're looking for, it works really well.

We think of it as a nice change of pace---very very casual with simple food, but more calming than the hustle and bustle of, say, Cosmic Ray's.

Bumping this thread. Dh and I are thinking about going in December and neither of us have ever been there before.

Does anyone know if they have continuous hours or do they have a break between lunch and dinner? How are the hot fudge sundaes?

We ate there last week. We waited 30 minutes past our ADR. It is a very small restaurant. Our service was awful. Waitress has the personality of a door. We watched other servers and they seemed great. There were 3 of us; we were seated at a table for 2 with a chair pulled up for the 3rd person. I hate that. The food was good, ice cream sundae nothing special. You can get your choice of icecream but trying to drag the flavors out of our waitress was pointless so I just got vanilla. I asked for no nuts, it came covered in nuts. She said she would take it back but she never came back. Oh, from the time we sat down, it was almost 2 hours before we left.
I might go back but would probably pay OOP. Not a great use of a TS.

I don't know about the continuous hours; our ADR's were for 1:00 and we were seated at 1:50. They don't have a separate lunch/dinner menu.

We had lunch there is May. Service was fine, and sandwiches and milkshake were lovely!:thumbsup2

We have an ADR for the Plaza in December. I'm looking forward to trying it! We got the "last ADR seating" and it's at 4:50pm. So it doesn't sound like they go too late in the day.

That is about the time we had our reservation last December. We sat by the window and watched them light up the ice castle. Be sure to ask for a window seat.

I would classify the Plaza and Beaches and Cream in similar categories. Both are sandwich and ice cream shops, and both are listed as TS even though the choices are more limited than at most TS restaurants. Both have tables close together (B&C is really "cozy" if you eat at the counter) with little room to move around. Both have a continuous menu all day, with no separation of lunch and dinner. I actually prefer the burgers at the Plaza to the ones at B&C.

I ate at the Plaza three times during my trip this month, and had good service and good food all three times (although they missed out on my dessert order one time due to the antics of the children at the next table - the parents fault, not the restaurant's - I just wanted to leave). It would probably help with expectations if they posted a menu outside instead of just having one lying around that people don't know to ask for. I probably wouldn't use a dining plan credit there on the standard plan when you only get one TS per day, but on the deluxe plan, I wouldn't hesitate to go. I paid OOP for my visits (not on the DDP).
