We took my son for his 3rd birthday along with his 6 month old brother. My son LOVED it. My little guy turned 1 in November my older son asked if we could have his birthday party with Mickey and Minnie instead of with family.
I thought Pat E Cake was awesome. There were about 15-20 tables and from what I saw he spent a little time with each table. He was very animated and funny. There was definitely a little tongue and cheek adult humor that the kids didn't get which I liked.
My son thought that it was so cool that he decorated his own cake. My husband took it very seriously and had a perfect Mickey.
You get a souvenir plastic cup w/ lid (similar to what you would get at Applebee's), paper Mickey ears hat, lemonade and the personal cake. The souvenir cup was really great for us. It was perfect to use in the park for the kids for the rest of the trip.
Mickey and Minnie come out, do a conga line, and then spend a few minutes with each child individually. Enough time for pictures. About as long as you would get if you waited in line to meet with them at their houses. My kids aren't into the autograph thing but I'm pretty sure I saw at least one child w/ a book and they signed it.
There was a photopass photographer at the party. He told us to set our card on the table and he took pictures of us at our table, our cakes, my son w/ Mickey and Minnie and some others. I think about 25 pictures from the party.
I don't think you can beat the price - $15.99 (did it go up? prev poster said $16.99). I think that a character breakfast is at least $32.
We did a character breakfast w/ Minnie and Friends in addition to the birthday party. The breakfast was also very nice and we did see a lot more characters but it was double the price and it wasn't special for the birthday boy. This was a real birthday party. Because my kids love the characters it's safe to say that we would do a character meal every time we went to the park.
I think this is one of those things where you will probably find people who love it and people who hate it. It's totally a matter of personal opinion. But I think it's safe to say that I felt it was worth the money, a great experience and something I would do again with my family. The smile on my son's face was priceless.
