Looking for some details. Please. DS is celebrating his 10th bday during our trip. I want to add something a little special. I'm planning on calling DL later today but I wanted some real life comments to help decide. Thanks.

what would you like to know? there is the in room celebrations? or the one at plaza inn ? or was there something else?

I mean the one at Plaza Inn. Sorry. I didn't realize there was more than one. I keep making this more difficult than it needs to be.

You get a cake and decorate it just small cakes are what they are like a pizza hut personal pizza.

Patty cake talks as you decorate them then he judges the cakes everyone wins.

Mickey and Minnie come out and you can get a quick picture with them no autographs.

Mickey and Minnie come out and dance and sing happy birthday.

Is it worth the 16.99 eh not really but it's a good time waster seems like the kids have fun.

Would I do it again proably not I'd rather waste my money on a character meal lol.

We took my son for his 3rd birthday along with his 6 month old brother. My son LOVED it. My little guy turned 1 in November my older son asked if we could have his birthday party with Mickey and Minnie instead of with family.

I thought Pat E Cake was awesome. There were about 15-20 tables and from what I saw he spent a little time with each table. He was very animated and funny. There was definitely a little tongue and cheek adult humor that the kids didn't get which I liked.

My son thought that it was so cool that he decorated his own cake. My husband took it very seriously and had a perfect Mickey.

You get a souvenir plastic cup w/ lid (similar to what you would get at Applebee's), paper Mickey ears hat, lemonade and the personal cake. The souvenir cup was really great for us. It was perfect to use in the park for the kids for the rest of the trip.

Mickey and Minnie come out, do a conga line, and then spend a few minutes with each child individually. Enough time for pictures. About as long as you would get if you waited in line to meet with them at their houses. My kids aren't into the autograph thing but I'm pretty sure I saw at least one child w/ a book and they signed it.

There was a photopass photographer at the party. He told us to set our card on the table and he took pictures of us at our table, our cakes, my son w/ Mickey and Minnie and some others. I think about 25 pictures from the party.

I don't think you can beat the price - $15.99 (did it go up? prev poster said $16.99). I think that a character breakfast is at least $32.

We did a character breakfast w/ Minnie and Friends in addition to the birthday party. The breakfast was also very nice and we did see a lot more characters but it was double the price and it wasn't special for the birthday boy. This was a real birthday party. Because my kids love the characters it's safe to say that we would do a character meal every time we went to the park.

I think this is one of those things where you will probably find people who love it and people who hate it. It's totally a matter of personal opinion. But I think it's safe to say that I felt it was worth the money, a great experience and something I would do again with my family. The smile on my son's face was priceless. :)

It is 100% worth every penny!!!!!!! No waiting in a long long long line for Mickey and Minnie=PRICELESS!!! The cake is about the size of a Costco Muffin...they also get party hats that have Mickey ears!

You can't beat it!!!

Is there a minimum amount of people that you need to have for a party? For example, could my DH and I bring our 3 kids and do the party thing? Also, can you order food at the same time? Thanks!

No food, but I wonder if you can bring your own in...it is an odd time..3:30ish, so not really lunch/dinner time.

ANY amount of people as long as there is room, make reservations!!!

I don't think there is a minimum. We had four people in our party. There were various size tables. Ours actually sat six but it was just our family at our table.

I don't think you can order food. They didn't offer a menu when we were seated.

My DS6mo was too young to drink the lemonade and he didn't eat much cake. They offered and brought me a to go box. They also reminded us to take our Minnie cups and mickey ear hats. I was surprised how many people left their cups on the table. It was like getting a free souvenir.

One other really funny thing was we were there on my DS's 3rd birthday. The CM asked me how old he was and I said 3 today. She asked me what time he was born. I thought that was odd but told her 7:55 PM. She then said that he wasn't 3 yet and didn't charge us for him. I thought that was super nice. A little Disney Magic.

There is no minimum for the amount of people that you need. The party is held for anyone who wishes to attend to celebrate a birthday. There will be lots of other people/families there. You will be seated at a table with your own family. As mentioned above, it is held in between meal times. We celebrated DS's birthday at Goofy's Kitchen, then we did the birthday party at Plaza Inn afterwards, and we enjoyed both. There was only the 2 of us, so it was affordable. The price on the DLR website says that it is $16.99 per person, and there is no charge for kids 2 and under. Unless something has changed recently, they don't allow you to get autographs, only photos with Mickey and Minnie, due to time constraints and the amount of people there. You might want to look up the party on youtube to see if you think your DS would enjoy it. At his age, maybe you might prefer to do a character meal, although it is more expensive. Goofy's kitchen would be great for a 10 y.o. boy. If you go there and you let them know ahead of time that it's his birthday, they will bring out a cupcake and sing "Happy Birthday". They usually bring along a character to help sing, and in our case, it was the Mad Hatter, which was so much fun! :)

We did this for my DD-Y and she loved it! She definitely thinks its "her" birthday party. Everyone gets to wear mickey ear party hats. She loved that she decorated a cake (she loves sprinkles). She loves the dancing/conga line with M&M.

Here are the "souvenirs" (cake, hat, cups)...

Then the birthday girl (and the family if you want) gets a picture with M&M together under the "My Disneyland Birthday" signage

Thanks everybody. I think we'll do it just for the mickey ear bday hat. DS loves things that involve decorating your own food. I think he'll enjoy it. Not going to do a character meal since we did a ton when he was younger. We are doing a luau in Hawaii for his actual bday.

This celebration is worth every penny! We do it everytime one of my children has a birthday at Disneyland and will continue for years to come. The look on my daughter's face in this pic (she's the one with the big pink bows on) and the light that shines in her eyes during this party is the reason we keep coming back.
