Question about the Galley Tours: Do they have a space limit? When can you sign up for them? I've wanted to go on one for awhile and we're about to do our first 7-night. Even apart from the chocolate chip cookies, it sounds really cool.

They do limit the amount of people on the tour. You just go to Guest Services on deck 3 to get your ticket for the tour.

Usually, at some point on the first day on the ship I hit guest services and ask....what do I need to sign up for? If you want to do one of the 'tastings' you can book it then (a $12-15 price range I think) as well as the galley tour or any other ticketed event.

On our February cruise, they seemed to have two types of chocolate chip cookies. The ones from room service were bigger (about 6 inches) and thicker than the ones on the buffets or at Goofy's Galley. The big ones were on Castaway also.

So on the cookies, the key is to look for the bigger, thicker ones?

And on the galley tours, just get your name on a list via guest services? Is the same tour offered on both at sea days?

Yes, the bigger thicker ones were better.

For the galley tour, you just go to guest services and they hand you a free ticket. The ticket will have a time on it. They stagger the groups by about 15 minutes so everyone can see/hear what is happening.

Since I started this thread to ask about the cookies before my Feb. cruise, I thought I would let you know what I thought about them. BLECH - too hard. I like soft, chewy cookies that fold over before breaking. Those have more taste to me. The one (yes, only one) that I tried on the cruise I put down after two bites. Hard cookies to me have no taste.

But I must say, I may have to try again after the suggestion to put ice cream on top. That would be interested especially if hot fudge or caramel can be put on top of the ice cream - yum!!! Hmmm, can I have a brownie under that ice cream instead? When's lunch?

We love ice cream sandwiches! Lay a few cookies on a plate, have them covered with ice cream and top them with another cookies. Yummy! We have also covered the ice cream sandwich with chocolate syrup and that was really yummy!

by the way... we do this with the hard cookies and the soft cookies. We do not discriminate!

This has been my problem with every cruise I have ever been on (RCCL, Carnival, etc). They make all this awesome food and I can't get a nice chewy cookie.
We go on our first DCL cruise in May and I was hoping that DCL had chocolate chip cookies like you get in the main street bakery (the ones they make cookie sandwiches with...yumm!).

Oh well...milk always makes the crunchy ones eatable...so I'll go that route.
