We are staying at SSR in October for a few nights. Our home resort is AKLV, but we went with SSR because it was less points. We are arriving late at night, what dining options are there at the resort for dinner? Also, I have heard that the Grandstand section is best. Is this true? What else can you tell me about this resort?

SSR's Grandstand (where we stayed last) has the biggest satellite pool with children's waterplay area . . . and the 1st bus stop (great when you're returning exhausted, or always having a seat on your way out). Can't beat it.

SSR's Turf Club has great food, honestly! They served me the best hotel dinner I've in WDW in all the years we've visited (I had the lamb, and I'm fussy about lamb). Sit outdoors for the ambience and quieter noise levels if you can. The indoors can be a bit noisy - but if you need the A/C stay inside.

Enjoy your stay at SSR!

What section is "best" is subjective to the person asking. My personal opinion is that yes, the Grandstand is the best. I like it because it is the first bus stop, has a nice pool, and depending on which building you are in, you are just as close to the main area as anywhere else. Congress Park is a close second in location mainly because you could have a great view of DTD and it is a nice walk to DTD should you choose to do so. The Springs is considered the closest to the main area, but it is also the last bus stop so it is not my favorite.

Other things to do: There are nice walking paths to take a stroll on. Be sure to check out the community hall and see what activities are going on (you should get a newsletter called Horsin' Around when you check in). Take a walk or our favorite, the boat over to DTD. Enjoy the peaceful atomosphere!

As far as SSR locations go, my two favorite locations at SSR are Congress Park and the Grandstand, followed by the Springs. I don’t particularly care for the Paddock or the Carousel areas.

• Congress Park is right across from Downtown Disney and many rooms have great views of Downtown Disney right across the water.

• The Grandstand has the newest rooms and a nice feature pool. Some of the buildings are a short walk away from the Carriage House. Plus, the busses typically stop here first!

• The Springs is closest to the main feature pool, the onsite spa and dining, but the busses are sometimes full by the time they get here, since it’s typically one of the last stops.

• Paddock is more distant from everything and has a smaller quiet pool.

• Carousel has no pool and is the most removed.

The Turf Club is the only TS restaurant at SSR, but there are some good restaurants at DTD.

Do they keep those bus stops set, or do they change them? I swear n o matter where I go it seems to be the last stop. I am starting to get paranoid . . .

I've been a couple of times when they change the order but it has always been during the last stops.

Stayed at SSR last trip and loved it (with the exception of the bus issue. We stayed at the Springs - great location - but issues with the busses being full).

As for the Turf Club, I was really surprised to find it was my favorite meal the entire trip. Will definately go there again.

All in all, you will not be disappointed with SSR. The resort is lovely. The pool is great and the atmosphere is just Disney enough to be fun, but serene and relaxing.

I also enjoyed the Turfs Club. We will be there in January and will get there late. I am just planning on ordering pizza from giordano's and saving Turfs Club for a night I can enjoy it more.

SSR is a great resort and I am sure you are going to love it!

We stayed at Congress Park on our last trip and loved it. It was very peaceful. We had a great view of DTD and it was also a nice walk to DTD. We had a nice quiet pool in that area which we also enjoyed. If you are travelling with children you may prefer the The Granstand section or The Springs to be closer to the bigger pools.

We have eaten at both the Artist Palette (counter service eatery) and the Turf Club (Table Service) and loved them both.

Have a great trip!

Pools -
I think the Congress Park pool is the prettier one with the great view of DTD. It's usually not overcrowded.
The Grandstand pool has the attached kid's waterspray area so that is fun if you have little ones. As well, there is a pool bar, and I think a drink refill station.
Both are great. AS for us, we don't spend much time at main pools as our kids are older so I don't have any experience with the main pool.

Spa -
Don't forget the spa! This, for us, is one of the biggest attractions of SSR. We head there everyday, either for a work-out and steam/sauna or just the steam/sauna. It's wonderful, especially if you have spent a lot of time in the sun and your 'northern' skin is complaining !

Turf Club and Artist's Palette -
Both are great. Love the variety of food, always tastes fresh. The CS restaurant has an odd configuation as the gift shop is also right there, but not really a big deal.

Community Hall -
Lots of activities and great CM's. We have rented bikes for pedalling around the resort, kids have taken craft sessions, played ping-pong and video games.

DTD -
Nice to be close to DTD. We have teenagers so they like to spread their wings and hang out on their own for some of each day. They prefer SSR to OKW for this even though OKW is also close to DTD. Now that PI clubs are closing, I will feel better about them going during the evening hours.

We really liked Artist Palette, the CS. The food was really good, we were just there at the end of June. We stayed at the Grandstand, 9321 a dedicated 2BR. We also ate at Turf Bar and Grill and the food was really good, plus we had the DDE and were able to take advantage of the 20% off at both places.

We really enjoyed the Turf Club, in fact it was one of our favorites this trip.
We stayed in the Grandstand section, in the furthest building. It was nice to be the first bus stop.
Have a great time!

I agree, we love the Grandstand.

SSR sounds wonderful. Is SSR hard to reserve in June. My home resort is AKV so I can not make a res. until Nov. for next June. We are hoping for a 2 br. the 2nd week in June. Does that sould like a long shot or is it likely? Just looking for someone's opinion. Thanks!
