My kids are 10 and 7, what kind of activities do they have for kids that age? Did your kids have fun? Do they have food and drink? Would love to go over to a Serenity Bay for an hour two.

My kids were 4 and 5, so younger... from what I could see, there is a lot of shaded areas with sand, sand toys, a splash area, and I think some play structures. We took the kids after lunch and they had mandatory water breaks, but I do believe they will take the kids to lunch if the kids are there early enough.

My boys were 9 and 10 our first cruise and they had the CM text us within 30 minutes of us dropping them off. :-( all kids are different but they described it as being for "babies". Lol Maybe your kids will love it.

No food.

My 10 year old also felt it was WAY too young for him. And he's not a kid who shies away from being a kid. But there was something about it that was just too young.

This is good to know. I'll be sure not to wonder too far after dropping dd off. I just wanted to venture over to serenity bay real quick to see it. Wasn't aware it was a younger area.

i probably also depends on who else is there.

I did swear I saw counselors and kids having lunch in a separate area, but I could be mistaken.

I would agree with that. If only all of our older kids would go at the same time, hang out with each other, and make their own fun! :)

DS still can't tell me what he felt was so babyish, but it just bugged him. It's not *meant* to be just for the littles, so it has boggled my mind. He's not generally one to complain of such things.

DS9 loved it and didn't want to leave. He enjoyed the treasure hunt, but it did sound a little young. But they did a variation of basketball, capture the flag and a few other team games. But maybe because our cruise was over Thanksgiving, there seemed to be plenty of kids his age there. He loves to be active, so I think that probably made a difference - there were a couple of bored looking kids who DS said later were only into video games.

My kids are going to be 8 and 11 during our next cruise. They were 8 and 6 when we went to Castaway Cay last time and they felt that Scuttles Cove was boring and for very young children. So we did not end up leaving them there even though they loved the kids club on the actual cruise. So we just had a family beach time together.

That's exactly how my boys were. We had the impression that it was not meant strictly for younger children but the activities that were taking place in the short time they were there, were geared more towards the younger crowd. Most of the children there during that time were much younger than my two and if there had been older children my boys probably would have enjoyed it a little more. Of the 3 times they have been to CC we have only been able to get them to go just that one time. lol I'm okay with that since they don't know that we cruised without them a couple of years ago and spent the entire day at SB. :goodvibes

My kids are 10 and 8. We have been on 3 Disney cruises this year. They will go to the kids club on the ship for about an hour each day but they want to stay all day at Scuttles Cove. Not sure what it is but they love it. They play volleyball and soccer and a lot of really cool games that could only be done outside.

I can't seem to find the answer to my question anywhere, so don't mind if I chime in with it! We cruise in two and a half weeks (YAY!) and my daughter is 2.5. Will she be able to play at Scuttle's Cove - with us being there with her of course - or is it like the kids' club and for the 3 and over crowd only (and no parents)? It sounds like there are some play structures, bubbles, water features, etc - all of which she'd love!

Do the wave phones work at Serenity Bay?

My kids were 10 and 7 on our last cruise and they loved Scuttles Cove (as they did on previous cruises). But my kids like to play in the sand and our more recent trips were when it was cooler, so they didn't want to swim much. We're from Fl, so "cooler" means in the lower 80s ;)

For lunch, they bring them to Cookie's and have them eat in a separate area.

Sorry. Scuttle's Cove is the land version of the Oceaneer's Club/Lab, so ages 3-11 and no parents. I was allowed to go in to get my son, but didn't feel right hanging out in there when he asked me to be allowed to finish the flag football game to the next point. I had him promise to come out when the next point was scored and went to wait for him by the entrance.

DS was just now able to talk a bit about in in response to what you said...he said there was a soccer game going on when he was there, but they were in the middle of the match. Then it was done. And then, apparently, we picked him up. So TIMING is everything sometimes! :)

It's actually 3-12 and the "-" means "through". So until the 13th birthday is the end age of club/lab/and Scuttles. Doesn't help the person you were responding to, but might help others with older kids.

And that expanded age group is why we've been so confused by DS not liking it! Sure, he likes a videogame when he can get it, but at the Lab he dances up a storm on the light-up floor, participates in the science activities, does Get the Hook, Gagaball (except he says they do it "wrong"), and the Stitch activity. He's a joiner, and he loves being active, so he definitely wasn't expecting a videogame when on the island. :) He was, however, expecting *more* for his age group, and if all he could find was one, already in progress, game, it's no wonder he didn't have fun there. (plus, soccer is one activity he doesn't play at home, so he would have been a total beginner)

This is helpful. My kids don't play soccer either (to the great chagrin of DH) and they won't want to just play with sand toys. It sounds like I need to review the Navigator carefully and choose a time that that they are advertising an actual activity that would be interesting to the kids. Also stop and ask when they are doing lunch.

Also, are there any Edge activities on CC?

There weren't really any Edge activities before lunch on our cruise. If you have a kid who wants to hang with friends, they should arrange it beforehand. Otherwise, it may be pretty dead in their area.
