Tell Me About Princess Meal in Norway

We have a dinner adr. Wanted to do breakfast but Ariel is a must and the reservations CM said that Ariel does not do breakfast.

How is this food served? Looking at menus, I'm confused for some reason. Is it buffet/order/or family style?

I'm nervous about the food and I'm curious who will/might be there for dinner.

I'd love to hear your experiences.

I have not been there for dinner, only breakfast, so I don't know if service is done the same or not. And we did have Ariel, so not sure what is up with them telling you she doesn't do breakfast. We were there in Dec. of 2007, maybe it has changed.

For breakfast it was family style for the main items and then there was a small buffet with fruit and pastries on it. Service for juice/coffee/etc. I thought the food was very good.

As for characters, we had Belle in her yellow dress in the lobby. They took pics before seating you which were available for purchase later. Then in the dining room, we had Ariel (as a human), Snow White, Jasmine and Pochahontas. It was my family (3 kids) and my sister, BIL and niece at our table. I felt the character intereaction was average. They talked to each child, signed all the autograph books and then took pics, but did not linger. The restuarant was about half full when we arrived and 3/4 full by halfway through our meal.

One thing though, there is no guarantee that you will get Ariel as one of your characters. If she's a must for you, I would make sure you hit her grotto in MK.

This meal is actually a buffet, anorder off the menu, and a family-style meal. They have a bar with cold cuts, cheeses, seafood, etc... that you eat from buffet style. Then, you will have a choice from a few entrees, and then the dessert is served family style.

We went in 2006 for lunch and enjoyed it. Belle was in her yellow dress and the princesses came by the table. Our favorite character that day was Jasmine. We were a party of 9 adults and 4 'kids' - 2 boys who were age 13 & 10 and 2 girls age 13 & 11. Jasmine was one of the first ones to our tables. She went to the table where to kids were & the boys just took off. Jasmine showed the girls how to work the attitude. Of course the single guys in our group had to get a picture with her. Jasmine then went through the rest of the restaurant. On her way out she went back to the 13 & 11 year old boys who still were getting away from her. Jasmine's comment was "just you wait - in a couple of years I will be your favorite".

We enjoyed the salads & they adapted a lunch item for DH who is a picky eater. We would do lunch there again.

we were there for dinner last year. We thought the food was terrible, including the selection. But, I was really there for the princesses for my dd and didn't pay much attention to the menu when making the ADR. I was a disney virgin at that point The princesses were great though, so we are trying breakfast this time. If you're not an adventurous eater, I'd stay away from dinner, imo.

We are going later this month for the same reason, Ariel. My DD6 is named after her (middle name) and her sister (first name) so she is her favorite for sure. I was worried about the food (I am picky) but I oted a thread and the people all seemed to say it was quite good. "GATORLADY" in particular said it was their favorite meal, or at least one of them. So while yes we will be at the grotto, we also will be trying Akerhaus for dinner.

We just returned and did breakfast in Norway on a Thursday morning. Belle was there in her yellow dress posintg for pictures in the lobby. Snow White, Jasmine, Mulan and Aurora walked around. Our friends went on Tuesday and had the same ones. We were told Ariel was out to sea. The only time we got to Ariel was in the parades (she was human) and we did the meet and greet at MK in her grotto. We went first thing in the AM and wait time was 10 minutes but I have heard of people waiting over 4 hrs to see her.

and this is why I couldn't figure out how you eat this meal It sounds like you do it all - crazy!

Thanks everyone for the responses. I hope we don't walk out hungry but the main purpose is definitely the princesses and more specifically, LM, so if the food's not so good, we'll deal with it.

We were in Disney for 8 days about a month ago and this was our last dinner during our stay. It was one of the highlights of our dining experience.

First your appetizer is buffet style. It is a cold food buffet, with meats, cheeses, salads (the shrimp salad was great), etc. I was able to get a taste of almost everything.

Then is the entree, which you pick from a menu. I got the traditional Norway entree, which I can't remember how to spell or pronounce (I was required to pronounce it if I wanted to order it, but had lots of help). It is very similar to meatloaf, I enjoyed it.

The desert was a plate of three deserts for the family to share including the famous school bread, rice pudding, and a flour less chocolate cake. I like all three, my wife was too full to eat any, and my kids did not like them at all. Actually, my son did like the rice pudding until I told him what it was.

Our waiter was great, the princesses were very nice, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very enjoyable. I highly recommend this place and would go back again. Hopes this helps.

we have ate here for both breakfast and dinner. enjoyed breakfast a lot more than dinner. It is a combination of family style and buffet. Children didn't like the dinner selections, but loved seeing the princesses.

We have eaten there for lunch and loved it. You can get cheese, cold cuts and some other stuff off of a buffet, and then you also order an entree. We found this great when our DD was 3 - didn't have to order her a meal.

I like the Kojtake (spelling this wrong, I'm sure) - it's like meatloaf and it's delicious.

I also love the desserts they serve. Yum!

At breakfast there is a buffet of pastries, fruits, cheeses, smoked salmon. They bring eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes (yummy!) to your table family style. They will bring you more of whatever you want.

Sounds delicous! We will be at WDW in 84 days and we have ADR's for breakfast. I can't wait!!!!! It will be our first time eating there.

Have only been there for dinner and now we do it every trip, we think the food is better than at the castle and the price is cheaper, you get to see all the princesses in one shot, just all around better in our opinion. The only thing i don't like is they got rid of a dish i had a few years ago that was made with venison.
