Tell me about Magic Bands

Sorry if this is a little off-topic...

Are MagicBands worth it if you're staying off-site? It seems like it would be a huge convenience to not have to worry about losing your tickets or fumbling to get them out every time, etc. My biggest concern is the kids. How hard are the bands for a kid to remove? I can see my younger kids taking them off and playing with them and losing them, but if they're hard to remove it would be great because we don't have to worry about keeping track of all the tickets and we eliminate the problem of all of them wanting to hold their own ticket, etc.

Is it worth buying them when we won't be using them for any of the on-site perks?

You can use your tickets for park entry and FPs. No need to have MBs especially if the thought of losing a MB that cost $13, or more, bothers you.

Use a sharpie to write names on each ticket and collect the tickets after you enter the park. Distribute them before you reach a FP line and collect them after the 2nd FP tapstile.

I would say for us they'd be worth it - we find it easier than when we had to hand out and collect cards.

Magic bands make everything easier, especially with kids in my opinion. The magic bands come apart to fit smaller children, maybe that would make it better for them. Perhaps you could wear their band for them if they wont keep it on?
If you decided to go with using tickets (these will be cards) perhaps you could find some ID badge lanyards to keep all of your tickets in? That is what I would do. Have a fun trip!!

We bought them for our trip. Much easier to have them on our wrists than pull the tickets out each time, imo.

Is it possible to remove extra magic bands from your account so that a friend can link them to his account and use them? I have two extra bands from an earlier trip and would give them to a friend to use but I think they can't be removed from an account once added. Am I wrong? Can they be linked to a completely different MDE account after being used?

You cannot unlink MBs and transfer to another account.

If you aren't using your MDE account and have used all tickets that were linked, you can remove your credit card info and allow your friend to use your MDE account with attached MagicBands.

Thanks, that's what I thought. We're going to be there the same time. My friend will survive though. They don't really need the bands, just would have been nice to give those old bands another use.

No. It's because all charges get sent to the room account not directly to a credit card.
